No gametime blog???
Anyways, from what Eks has posted for the season wrap up...
If we win 5 of 7 we are in or tied for 8th at least. Now with MacT in the big office, lets hope their is a little more motivation for guys to work hard and keep their jobs in Edmonton.
It's not impossible. But this will be the hardest work the team has to do all year.
Could you imagine squeeking the playoffs out in the last game of the season. This city would go nuts. |

Sorry bro, but this is dependent upon the bottom couple seeds losing out while we win out, I like your optimism, but not gonna happen, that 5 losses in a row (frank)ed them. Would like to see them go out fighting though |

Richard Cloutier: Hate and Hockey Don't Go Together - Maxbone
While I agree with much of what you've said here Richard and think it is logical to a degree and somewhat insightful, I do think there are issues with the Muslim community that even peaceful Muslims must despise at times.
The fact is, you actually have a pretty large number of fractious caldrons willing to perform extremely violent acts for political, economical and religious purpose.
There are vast parts of the world where leagues like the Mutaween, the Saudi religious police will drag you away to political or religious purgatory for saying, wearing or sleeping with the wrong thing.
Yet, all the while we have to be acutely politically correct about our comments regarding such ethos. This is not to say I defend the thoughtless and idiotic twitter comments to which you may be referring but I will add this:
Mark Steyn, a brilliant and hilarious cultural and political writer made a joke / comment quoting a fundamentalist Norwegian imam years ago in a story for MacLeans.
There was a complaint made to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and voila, Mr. Steyn had to fight tooth and nail to clear his name with this joke of a kangaroo court. Because of such things as Section 13 of this Human Rights Code, it's being scaled back and repealed. Hopefully.
Trust me, whole swaths of people hear what you're saying in regard to whole communities being besmirched because of the actions of a few but it's also gone too far.
We now have the "feeling police" as a result. Free speech starts to slip - identity group politics becomes more important then equality before the law.
For fukk sakes, years back, Ezra Levant got put up before this same tribunal for re-printing that Danish cartoon. Seriously? You spoke of freedom Richard.
Careful, 'cause if I'm being an alarmist for a moment, this poop is getting Orwellian.
I'm not going to attempt to make this about hockey. |

Of course it's all speculation, or do you think people who make documentaries that look at how things would change in the future are time travellers and actually are writing from experience? China has said for decades that they believe Taiwan isn't its own country and would bring it back under Chinese rule if they were given the chance? You don't think that Israel would be destroyed by other countries in the region? I also believe Japan and South Korea would start producing nuclear weapons if the US pulled out of that region which would set off a SEA arms race, and with North Korea being (frank)ing crazy results wouldn't be great.
Edit
They also never said Chinas first attack would be nuclear, but China is bound to start expanding or creating 'zones of influence' and as traditional enemies Japan would be looked at. Remember Japan invaded China in 1931, it could actually be looked at as when WW2 began in the Pacific Theater. Why is China building up their military the way that they are? - ShooterMcGavin
Because they feel threatened as America is in the process of encircling them

Ya, just when you look at the optics:
We win five in a row to get into a playoff spot. Then proceed to lose five in a row after holding that position - when the playoff drive really begins and games matter most.
Well that's a sad problem. |

Excellent Shooter.
I am tired of hearing and I do all the time in Toronto "fukking Jingoistic Americans"
While they may have a point but the world and Canadians should take note that it's easy to say all that when the US has in fact been the world's peacekeeper since the end of world war 2. Total cake and eat it too.
Hell, even Germany has been welcoming American bases and troops by the thousands for decades which they don't pay for.
IF America does slip or change course or hand the reins off as many great societies do----"Permanence is the illusion of every age"----the world could get very, very interesting. What free society is there to help in this regard? |

Win 5 games and lose 5 games didn't help much and doesn't make us a very good playoff team. But you're right, it would be interesting as hell. |

The state department publicly stated last year they are refocusing most military assets in South East Asia. Hence why they reallocated most of their Middle Eastern presence in places like the Philippines, Indonesia, fortifying areas such a Guam, Okinawa, Taiwan and for the first time stationing Marines in Australia.
In the words of your own government: " We are attempting to contain the growing presence of China in South East Asia"....
And people wonder why China is amassing the worlds biggest and most advanced army. Here's a few great articles if you wish:

Yep remember what happened when the US packed up and went home after WW1 and left Europe to deal with Europe.
The whole blood for oil thing is ridiculous too, the US gets 12% of its oil from the ME, only 3% from Iraq and Kuwait. China by comparison gets 40% of their oil from the ME, Europe 26% and India 60%. Someone has to maintain peace in that region, not saying it has to be the US but what happens if the supplies breakdown? |

The issue is that you are talking about foreign states national resources. As long as places like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Kuwait's economies are fully dependent on oil exports the supply will never break down.
Iraq for example has 90% of its total economy dependent on oil exports, the issue has never been about these nations reducing oil exports, but foreign nations wishing to maintain influence over the control and profitability of these resources. The current conflict in Nigeria is a perfect example of this. |
