What if Bernier could be had for Read, Cousins and someone like Gus/Bourdon/Lauri/Ghost? Would you do it? - FLYERSROCK!

NO! - MJL
Read/Couts/Laughton would be the starting point.
I dont want to underpay. Im not one of those fans. I always go for a bit of an overpayment.
I wonder if LA would take Mezzy? They have quite a bit of cap next year and their defense is nothing special... only 1 year left @ 4M |

I'd have Bryz if he was being payed 3M. He isnt. Hes being paid to be a top goalie, and he is NOT that.
There's so many other goalie options out there, for cheaper, and shorter. And all those goalie i listed with the exception of Mrazek who is unproven, but a top goalie prospect--- are better than Bryz, and will come much cheaper - FLYERSROCK!
There's always cheaper and shorter options available. But be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it. What makes you think all of those Goalies are better than Bryz? How many of them have been a Vezina finalist? |

You say you want to overpay, and then ask if they'll take Meszaros? |

Like i said in my last post. I go for overpayment. Im not one to undervalue someone. I was testing you guys, because i wouldnt do that offer either. I honestly wouldnt.
Read, Ghost for Bernier? Im really starting to like Gus' play, i'd like to keep him...
like i said i wonder if they'd take Mezzy off our hands. CMon LA do us a favor please |

Meszaros is a walking band aid at this point. And i really like Mezzy, but he's not much value to us anymore. Idk if he'll ever be fully healthy again. He's a good 2nd pairing dman dont get me wrong, but just meh.
Homer will be busy this offseason... ill just be sitting back and watching what he does. |

Off Topic but important: CNN is reporting an arrest has been made in connection to the Boston bombing incident.

I would definitely not trade Read and Ghost for Bernier. - BulliesPhan87
And LA fans would feel the same way
I remember Bill saying a few months back "when both fanbases are unhappy about the trade, its usually a good trade"
100% true. If i were to go ask 100 LA fans if theyd trade Bernier for Read and Ghost, 90 probably say no |

I'll make my point clearer. Neither the Eagles or Phillies are a team that is in the same position in terms of team development as the Flyers are currently. The Eagles last year had a drastic lack of talent, and the Phillies are a successful veteran team who is on the downside of it's window.
My point is valid, so I'll repeat it. The Flyers finishing this Season strong, can have a positive effect on the team going forward to next Season. - MJL
Not on paper they didn't. They had a bunch of injuries on OL and strange busts (Watkins) but were still very talented. On D they had two terrific cover guys, two terrific DEs, some up and coming D-linemen, a 2nd year safety who could have been as easily a star as a bust (Nate Allen), an all-pro MLB ....
I am going to stick my head out and unapologetically say that I wish the Flyers get a high pick. I don't think the last 2 games are meaningful at all. They are simply random flips of an average coin, like the 4 game winning streak a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday the goalie got hot - its not going to be like that all the time. Having a winning streak might help Lavy keep his job and deflect attention from the institutional failure that leads a young goalie turn around and make clear technical adjustments and become a star in the span of half a season. Its not like he is playing in a very strong defensive system - CBJ give up over 30 shots a game.
More relevantly, I don't think the Flyers have a realistic chance next year either. But for the year after that; Harts-Roo-Voracek should make a great first line. I think the upside of Couts is higher than anyone else remaining, including Schenn. The rest are good players but they need a star/real talent on their lines to be effective. Having a cheap EL high draft pick there would greatly help. That also leaves some money to go and sign some established defensive talent.
These same players played major roles in 11 playoff games last year. They are battle hardened enough. Having a meaningless 5 game winning streak and not getting into the playoffs is like scoring 4 goals in the 3rd period and losing 7-4 in a game they should have been very competitive in. |

I'm not trading a roster forward (a good two way forward, at that) plus a decent prospect for just a prospect (a significantly more NHL ready prospect, admittedly). Why not see what Mason's got instead of bringing in another relative unknown in net? - BulliesPhan87
trade a surplus for a non-surplus. Sometimes u cant win trades *shrug*
How many Flyer fans were saying the Schenn-JVR swap was a bad trade because JVR was more proven and Luke sucked? Look how that turned out.
Homer knows what he's doing in trades. He traded a 40 goalscorer for a "lazy russian" + 2 unknown picks. The fan base wasnt happy about that one.
I trust Homer 100% when it comes to trades. When was the last trade from Gagne that he did not win or atleast tie? I cant think of one. |

More like trading a non-surplus for a surplus. Anyways, I'm not worried about fans feeling we won or lost trades or whatever (besides, it's never really as simple as that), I just think trading for Bernier is unnecessary at this point. Especially at those price points, it's not just a matter of being realistic or fair, it's about what makes sense for the Flyers. |

During the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Eminger, along with the 84th overall pick (Jacob Deserres) were traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for the 27th pick overall (John Carlson). |

Big fan of Bernier. I believe he can be a top goalie in this league. He is certainly going to be on the market, and i fully expect him to be traded at some point. No way he resigns to be Quicks backup again. He's been the better of the 2 this year as well. |

I wait till FA, and see if Nick Backstrom will sign with us. Theres a 0% chance hes back with Minny with the cap going down next year. Also try and snatch Emery. He enjoyed his time here, see if he'll come back if he ahsnt resigned.
but im done. We need a top pairing dman, and homer knows that. If Bryz is in the way of that, then he'll be gone, and Homer will sign or trade for another goalie.
I want Nick Backstrom in a Flyuers uni next year. I've always been a fan. Consistent. Extremely. Been rock solid for Minny his entire career. Sign him 2 years, 4-4.5M/yr - FLYERSROCK!
Length of contract is my biggest issue with Bryz, not the cap hit. 5.7 million for 2 or 3 more years I'd be fine with, however 7 is just not doable.
Backstrom be good, Emery may be just as good and will most likely cost less, but either way the length of his deal will cause them to buy Bryz out. |

The voice of reason here. There is very little to nothing to draw on on these remaining games In the long run. All it did was hurt lottery chances. Not a Debbie downer just being real.
