Why?

Certainly Rinaldo earned it. As far as Rosehill goes, Im ok with it if the cap hit is under 700k or so. They can always waive him if it doesn't work out.

Rinaldo's 2-yr deal has an AAV of $675,000; Rosehill's 2-yr deal has an AAV of $750,000

Wow Flyers got both those guys on the cheap especially Rinaldo thought he would come in on about 1.2 mil per.

Honestly thought Rinaldo would make atleast 1M/yr. Great signings

I haven't had a chance to read if this has be discussed, but what are people's thoughts on why the team is playing better the last two games. What has changed? They have energy and are playing with passion. I know it's two games but they look like a totally different team. Also I like what I'm seeing in Mason so far. His ability to handle the puck really helps. It's been a long time since the Flyers have had a goalie that can play the puck.

I think you answered the question. They're playing with energy and passion. Plus they are playing better systemically. And doing things that I haven't seen done all year. And it really burns me up. If the changes were made way earlier, like they should of been. Good chance they'd be in the playoff hunt. Although there's a good chance the injuries would've derailed that also. But nothing anyone can do about that.

I was just hoping they didn't do anything silly and give Rosehill over 900k. They didn't which is fine.

A player like Rinaldo isn't going to more then double his salary, in a new deal. He got a nice raise. And he earned it.

Wouldn't exactly call a 100k raise in the NHL "a nice raise" but eh whatever lol. It's a bargain. He is a 1M player

It's a very nice raise. It's 20%. And Rinaldo is not a 1M player. Hasn't been in the League long enough.

Can you agree with anyone? Rinaldo IS a 1M player in this league i think you need to check salaries you see how much Prust makes?? That guy makes 2.5mil and he has a whopping 12 pts.

I dont get how a guy who's played a whooping 7 games for this team and is basically in the mold of Zac makes more than him but okay.

It just pisses me off that they wait until it's too late. Most of the season they looked like they didn't want to be out there.

If they keep this up more likely Lava stays. I know Homer said he would be back next year, but if they kept losing no chance Lava was coming back

Well maybe Rinaldo should fire his Agent then. I'll explain something to you about the NHL Salary structure and how it works. Prust signed his deal in Free Agency. In which he put his services out there, for teams to make offers. And teams bidding for players, drives up Salaries. And Montreal was willing to pay him that, to add the toughness he brings to the lineup.
If Rinaldo continues to evolve as a player, he very well could make a 1M Salary in the future. But he is not there yet. As evidenced by the deal he signed. It is a fair deal for both sides. He's played 98 NHL games.
Comparing points, doesn't come close to explaining how the NHL Salary structure works.

I'm also guessing this contract is a one-way contract, which is probably a big deal for Rinaldo.

Ok you tell yourself that bud...Rinaldo by no means had to sign this deal as fan Im obviously glad he did. You change your arguments everytime so whatever. There are a ton of teams out there that would gladly have paid more for his services.

They probably wouldn't have had the option. He was scheduled to be a RFA. That means the Flyers had a right to match. Nobody's tossing an offer sheet for an agitator.

Basically, the Flyers got Rinaldo for close to what his qualifying offer would have been. It's a good deal, but Rinaldo wasn't going to make much more than that regardless.

Rinaldo was a 22 year old RFA. No one was giving him a million bucks a season.

I didn't change any argument. I gave you the facts. And your response does not contain any facts. I explained the difference to you of an RFA, who has played less then a 100 games, and the leverage he has. Compared to a player who is a UFA, and the leverage he has, and the salary demands he can make.
Rinaldo had little choice but to sign the deal. And he should've signed it, because it is a good deal. Should he wait around until July 1 and see if any team would offer him an Offer Sheet? He'd likely be waiting a long time. And now Rinaldo has some security of a new deal, a million bucks will be in his pocket. Kid is doing pretty good. And you have it backwards. The Flyers didn't have to offer him this deal. They could've simply made him a Qualifying offer, for a lesser raise, and played hardball with him.

Wow. Thats great value for Rinaldo! Rosehill has been Ok. Just don't see the need to carry him if we have Rinaldo. I know Rinaldos not a heavyweight but he's a more intimidating presence Bc of his hitting. Can't complain here
