Hard to blame ANYgoalie when his team gets shut out. - BiggE
I don't blame him for the loss, but letting in a stoppable shot on a breakaway is as predictable as the team's play in front of him. It's just as frustrating as everything else going on with this team.

They need some more of this:

Btw your message was probably what brought me back, to be honest. Take it easy hooligan, and congrats on the big game in the Wells Fargo.
welcome back. thanks. game was in the first period. there was a sequence in the 2nd period where i made 5 saves in a 5 or 6 second span. would have been nice to get some help.

I read.
I still have to study my ass off a lot of nights where the girl is working.
Lurking was never too far away. Still pretty cool though.
Yeah, Bryz played fine. No, he's not the reason they lost or even the reason they are not making the playoffs.
Again, this was yet another Flyers/Devils game that looked suspiciously like the one before it. Whatever the Devils do against the Flyers, the Flyers are either ill-prepared to handle it or they don't have the personnel to handle it.
Back to Bryz: If he made 2.5 million per year, you can say he played great. He stopped everything he was "supposed" to stop and the other team scored when the team made a mistake in front of him.
Right or wrong, his contract and the cap room it consumes, is gonna get called out when this team doesn't succeed.

It was a stoppable shot. Bryz has sucked on 5 hole shots all year. I'm not getting on him for letting in one goal, and I understand the team in front of him sucks, but it does not excuse letting in stoppable shots predictably. He plays great and then lets in a softie when the team needs him to make the stop. He's sucked on breakaways all year. - feelingkettle
sure it was. it was also a good shot. i just don't see the point of getting on him when the team has given him zero margin for error against a 40 year old goalie without testing him the entire contest.
though I wanted to see Mason, that was a good game by Bryz.
oh well, at least the silly playoff talk is now dead. the next few months can't happen fast enough, if just to get the memory of this lousy season over with.

and i agree he needs to get better on breakaways. - hammarby31
All I'm asking is for everyone to do their job. The goalies to stop the shots, and the guys in front of him to not play like poop. You know as soon as there's a breakaway, Bryz might as well skate to the bench and give the guy an empty net. Again, the loss is not on him. I just can't give him a pass anymore on goals like that, even though he's carried this team for a while this season.
I'd expect that poop from Boosh or Leighton, but not from Bryz. Although at this point, I do expect it.

I'm more bothered by the complete inability to compete than the actual loss. That's what I wanted in a strong finish, I wanted to see fire and competitive play.
The sad thing is, I don't think they were outworked. They just played really dumb and wasted a lot of energy spinning their wheels

All fair points.
These games against the Devils are like "Groundhog Day" at this point.
