Same thing could be said of NYI & MTL.

I do agree that's a valid point, but the goaltending is a lot better than the last few years.

I also think that coaching is such that he's keeping the boys focused on what's at hand.

Also, you have to think that the guys in the room remember last year, and want to make sure that it doesn't happen again, lest their pride be obliterated

- AngryWhiteMale

I am just not sure they could continue the sh% they have had so far. They are also one of the worst at puck possession teams. It doesnt really matter now that its 48 games, but the last few games have been bad... really bad.

I am not sure how far they can go in the playoffs.. I would feel lucky to see 2 rounds, I wont expect it.

I hope I am wrong

Hey sexy avatar, INDEED. They are bad. They better be careful. If they don't smarten up, they could get buried near the bottom of the East. Doesn't take much to all of a sudden one day be like 9 games out of 1st, esoecially how bad the Jays are playing. One game a win, next game a stinker just isn't good enough.

I have a theory about the Leafs that might not cast a positive outlook for next season.

Leafs this season have won alot of games where they were outshot badly. Call it being fortunate, being lucky, having bounces go their way. You can only be lucky for so long b4 it catches up to u. Now we are seeing in the last 3 games, even the win vs New Jersey in which the Leafs are lucky that NJ has no offense or else they'd be a on a three game losing streak, playing catch up hockey all season may have finally taken it's toll on the Leafs. Leafs will make the playoffs this year but this team as it is now, next season over an 82 game season they will be in trouble. You can't keeo playing this way every night, taking it for granted that you can win despite being outplayed badly. Over a full season, this will kill a team. While I am joyful that the Leafs will make the playoffs this year, I seriously worry about them next season.

- GCHonda

I agree, over 82 games I am pretty sure they are a bubble team at best.
It will be great to see some playoffs finally, I fear it will end up being worse in the long term for the leafs. I wish they could find a true #1 center, but its only through drafting you get one.

It could happen but I agree a little better goalie and good coaching and if RC had more time for practices we might see Gardiner get better also. Fransons the man - I think he's looking better every game - last night he got caught flat footed not really his fault - he's our bet D for sure.

I was pumping Franson's tires from the start. He was ridiculed for lack of physicality, but I thought that a lot of people were looking for scapegoats. He's adequate in that department. He has a lethal shot and Frazer and him make an effective pairing.

My problem isn't so much with individuals on the blueline. Franson and Gunnarsson both need to be resigned. O'byrne is welcome to stay as his size is effective and I imagine his price isn't too high. Basically it looks like Holzer and Kostka will have to settle for AHL paycheques for the long-term future.

Yes, Gardiner needs a little more time to get it together, but remember, it's a sophomore year, and a wacky one at that. As long as he isn't tasked with cleaning up Dion's mistakes, then I think in the long run he's a keeper. Whether RC feels the same way remains to be seen.

They're trying to be too fancy. Not willing to create a real cycle and use possession to wear down the other team.

Also, we need our blueliners to make shots hit the net, and get JVR to crash the net like Loops did on his goal, which by the way was a freakin' beauty

I don't get Burke/Wilson.. I thought when they made the trade it was all about him and not that other guy with all wheels and no hands ( forget his name ) Then they played wheels and benched Franson? Could Burke not tell Wilson that he needed to play this guy or maybe Burke isn't quite as tough as he tried to let everybody think he was. I would play Kostka over Gardiner right now..at least until we lock - hopefully only 1 game... I think the leafs will be fine next year...couple good moves and they will have a team that should at least make the playoffs without making us sweat until the last week. No practices is probably driving RC crazy especially when he goes out at game time and watches his team play like Pee Wee House League players...I don't get why they are so soft when trying to exit the zone..get the frankn puck deep or go sit in the dressing room. It's that easy

Something has to improve for next season. I'm telling you, the way the Leafs have played in the last 3 games, in their last 4 games, if they were playing 2 better teams than the Bolts & Cats, I seriously be getting worried right now. But I don't see them losing both those games.
