Team played well enough to win...they were let down by a goalie with a habit of CHOKING and telegraphing his tendencies...primarily going down ALL THE TIME. Vrbata knew Crow would be down early and sniped high and though Crow has done ok in shootouts this year...he STUNK in this s/o and save the anti-shootout talk...it's played out.

The Hawks have got points in 11 straight games with only 2 SOLs. What's the issue? Not every night will be perfect.

Ok - some stats showing how small the margin of error is for our heroes:

In OT/SO games, Hawks are 11 - 5.

In one-goal regulation games, Hawks are 8 - 3.

That's 27 out of 44 games that were either extra-time or one-goal games - over 60% (didn't include empty-net-goal gaes). Certainly the play-offs will be the same.

Every goal, every save will be extremely important in the play-offs - mistakes will only be magnified.

Almost all playoff hockey is closely contested and tight tight checking.

But don't throw out regular season statistics as some barometer of the playoffs.

During the season there are teams playing 4 games in 5 nights; playing back to back against opponents who may have been sitting and resting for 3 days etc. Everything is equal in the post season with playoff opponents.

Go Red Wings. Don't want to see that Coyote squad boring me in the playoffs with their ugly style of play.
