Not loved, he was the best option we had & he and Bailey were very good together.
we STILL don't have a second line center (not that he was the answer, but he was an option that let Frans play third line)
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
even if he was the best option (which he wasnt), he still sucked |

its an answer no one will have a definite answer to...
what i do know, are FACTS.
and the FACTS are last year islanders werent in the playoffs; this year they (knock on wood) will be in the playoffs....draw your own conclusions. - LetsGoIsles
I already have and I gotta tell ya.. I'm pretty confident that on this one, that no one other then you views Boyes as the reason we are in the playoffs.

Because he's better than Boyes. Much better. What's going to happen is Boyes will be gone in the summer and next year we will be having the same conversion with a different name.
I'm sick of the Islanders making moves that only the Islanders make. Just do what every other GM in the league would do FOR ONCE! Sign Streit, sign Nabby for 2 years and sign Boyes for 1 more.
Put Boyes with Grabner and have fun with your little AHL tryouts on the first line for a few games. If they work, great. If they don't, your back up plan is sitting on the third line. - kencan98
if you think nelson strome or nino are ahl tryouts then you really are crazy |

"mistake"??
last year the islanders didnt make the playoffs with PA...this year they look like they will make the playoffs without PA...how can anyone be serious and say that the islanders NEED pa and that not signing him was a "mistake" - LetsGoIsles

everyone knocks snow for not making any trades "because he never has" but seem to gloss over the fact that he is responsible for the team thats on the ice today... maybe staying the course and not trading for the sake of trading was the right move!! - LetsGoIsles
So if we aren't filling the first line via trade, how are we filling it?
Is there a better UFA out there that you honestly think we have a shot at signing?
If so, who and what makes you think he'll sign here?
If not, are you just admitting that we should roll the dice with AHL tryouts on our top line and get rid of an (almost) point per game producer without any backup plan at all? |

So what are they? Prospects have POTENTIAL. That's it. Nothing more nothing less.
Until they've proven they can play in the NHL, they are nothing more than potential.

none of these questions address my point...
you were knocking snow for "never making a trade" but him never making a trade has gotten us to this point...you realize that right? |

The reason we are in a playoff race is because of Nabby. You can make an argument for JT as well, Vis helps, but without Nabby we are a lottery team. Just look at the stats of the other goalies we've had backing him up this year. |

I wasn't knocking Snow for anything. I was simply addressing UIF's argument that he feels Snow will make a "serious attempt" at bringing someone in for the first line.
I don't believe he will simply because he never has. It's either a waiver wire pickup that may work or may not or a low budget UFA signing.
And after 2 weeks, when I originally brought up the Boyes issue, still no one can answer my question.
If not Boyes, WHO? |

We need to see who hits the waiver wire before we answer this.

We need to sign Boyes first, then find a replacement if one becomes available that we can grab or if a prospect shows he can handle the NHL.

you go into camp and see which ones stand out..they are being groomed for this roll..please stop calling them ahl tryouts...JOEY (frank)ING DIAMOND is an ahl tryout.. once again i am very certain that you can replace Boyes production internally or externally. |

I understand what you are saying... sign him & if a better option comes along, trade him. I get it & I don't argue it. He is the best option we have at this moment. I'm still hung up on the fact we had a better option and let him walk.

And what if no one stands out?
"Very certain" isn't good enough unless you have a back up plan if your "very certain" turns into "we tried and failed". |

I am 100% with you on that. We did have a better option and let him walk. The only reason why I argue for Boyes so much is because I don't want to be saying the same thing this time next year. |
