Imagines if the Flyers actually drafted Dougie Hamilton....
Then imagines if the Flyers drafted Subban instead of another 3rd liner turd...
Finally imagines the Flyers drafting the correct player instead of drafting another 3rd liner who falls in the draft like Ristolainen...
Nothing is guaranteed, but things would look a lot brighter in 3 years. |

Fair enough. He's probably likely to agree that he could have done better but I'm beginning to think the Flyers will never have the right coach. I'd attribute some of the dip to the loss of Pronger. I think he's mishandled the goalies but from the beginning he didn't have the strongest of hands. I have to defer to others when it comes to deep criticism of the X's and O's of coaching but I can recognize the wrong mix of players and I think that's the biggest problem. - 2731color
Your right. The biggest reason for the decline has been the health of Pronger.
Not lavas coaching.
Not the trades
Not the goaltending.
It's very debatable whether another coach would be able to get much more out of these players.
It sucks |

You can go back through every draft, for every team and use hindsight for what if. Don't really see the point of it.

It's not debatable to me. The horrendous Coaching job that Laviolette has done this Season is a major reason why this team isn't in the playoffs. That and injuries.

The mix of players is wrong for the system that Laviolette prefers, but that's sort of the crux of my issue. I want a coach that will adapt and adjust.
The poor record vs NJ, NYR, TB and Boston the last couple years is stinging. Even Florida simpled aped what the Devils and Rangers do and beat the Flyers twice this year. There's just no apparent adjustments coming. - Jsaquella
Don't take this the wrong way but if you recognized the problem as a failure to adapt then GM should have noticed it first and either fired him or got him the players his system requires. Maybe Lavy figures that he and his Stanley Cup don't need to adapt to an organization that hasn't won a Cup in 38 years. Who knows? These guys need to figure out what kind of team they want. I feel like the organization is in limbo waiting for the great white hope. |

Who do you like in the 2nd round? Any chance they take tristan jarry? - fecondo
I like Tristan Jarry from what I've been told about him but if they choose not to go with him perhaps Oliver Bjorkstrand (Portland) |

True, but I was only basing my list on what I said at the present time of those drafts. Remember I was the loser who said trade down in the 2007 draft, get an asset and try and pick that kid J. Vorecek. |

There's a disconnect for sure. I sensed it when paddock was sent down. Felt there is not a cle direction with this team. GM and coach not pulling in the same direction. Until this changes the flyers will be treading water |

If only they hadn't passed up Datsyuk and Zetterberg in back-to-back drafts.
Should have traded for the 49th overall in 2003 to get Weber.
Also should have taken Jamie Benn with the #2 overall in 2007.
Worst scouting department ever. |

Drafting is not an exact science, much of it is luck as it is spending tons of time scouting the players. Projecting who can and can't make it is more often wrong then any team will ever be right.

Exactly! Since I am not playing the "go through the drafts and see who got picked after the flyers picked and we should of selected them" game I just mention what I actually said 2 years ago. Archive system is a wonderful thing.
P.S. I also said Randy Jones would be out of the NHL within 3 years his last year with the Flyers and the person who shall not named named told me I was stupid...look at his numbers he is a rock steady defenseman. Pretty funny now. |

Well then what are you doing wasting your time on here? You should be alerting the Flyers that their advanced scouting staff needs your mystical foresight. |

Flyers record with Lavi:
W- 142
L- 95
Playoffs:
W-23
L-22
This is a "what have you done lately" league. This year the team failed by not even making the playoffs but is it really enough to cut bait with the coach? Thats a decision Holmgren will have to make.

I said those same exact things. What a coincidence. I knew Subban was going to be a future star. I also couldn't believe all those teams in 2003 were passing up Shea Weber. I knew he was going to be a stud. Also in 1989, I was begging for the Flyers to draft Nik Lidstrom. I knew he was going to be one of the greatest defenseman ever to play the game. Instead the Flyers drafted Greg Johnson and Patrick Juhlin. I was so pissed!

No need for foresight since half the boards during the draft said the same exact thing! I believe I read a lot of...
"Why did they not take Dougie Hamilton!" among other things.
And obviously yes the scouts and team personnel is way better than me, I mean they are getting paid to build championship caliber Flyer teams. |
