Good two-way player, good skater, sees the ice well. He can play center or wing. My comparison players for him are both wingers, but I think he'll end up being a center in the NHL. Best case scenario is a player akin to Loui Eriksson. Worst case, if his offense doesn't develop as hoped would be someone like P.J. Axelsson. - bmeltzer
Thanks Bill, the players slipped my memory. |

This off season, the flyers need to aquire a sniper for their top line left wing, along with a stronger blue line. Last night, Voracek and Giroux supplied Gagne with ATLEAST 5 amazing opportunities, all of which Gagne failed to even hit the net on. I was imagining if we had that one more player to put the puck away with a strong shot, just how many goals our first line would have scored last night. Whether this player is already on the Flyers, or needs to be aquired from another team, is beyond me. Dupuis and Ryder are both UFAs this offseason, and could probably be converted to the left wing, if the opportunity arose. ). - JAKEw1234
I wouldn't be too hard on Gags. That line is just beginning to form chemistry and it's partly due to him...the fact that they are coming close so many times is a good sign and bodes well for future production. Gagne had 5 shots on goal in that game, so I'm pretty sure a few of those opportunities he got weren't exactly wasted...Gagne moves well without the puck and knows how to sneak into spots to get open...he once played very well as Forsberg's winger....his gun might be a bit rusty these days, but he still owns a pretty good wrister and snap shot.
Now, I'm not saying Gagne is an ideal top line winger for these guys, but I don't think Dupuis or Ryder would be much of an improvement over (a healthy) Gagne or Hartnell for that matter, at this time. The lines will probably be different next season anyway. There are a number of players that can step up into that kind of top line role if the likes of Hartnell and Gags isn't cutting it.

We either take Darnell Nurse, or trade Brayden Coburn + our first round pick for a 3rd or 4th overall pick. - JAKEw1234
With Mezaros and Grossman under injury clouds, trading Coburn is a bad idea. |

It is especially since we aren't deep at it to begin with and you pick a kid who you have no idea if he'll make but you'll hope like hell he does & is likely still 3 or so years away. How would that help now?
That and you can't assume Coburn plus our 1st will land you in the top 3 in this deep draft. He's not a bad d-man but can look that way when he's asked to do too much. |

Wait until MAB makes his return next year. I wouldnt be opposed to trading Coburn but you have to get back an NHL defenseman.
Moving Mez is the way to go but his value is shot right now. |

im aware
i just think other concerns about his skating and offensive potential were the real reasons he dropped to 8. Not saying mono didnt play a part in that but i cant see a team passing on someone they view as having a top overall pick skillset because he got sick.
- Crimsoninja
Agreed. It's bogus - Just5
From what I recall and could find out, he dropped down in the rankings, supposedly for a few reasons, one being the perception that he "doesn't use his size" and isn't physical enough. Also, the perception that he didn't have a great WJC (he was behind players on the depth chart)...also, the emergence of RNH and Landescog kind of took some of the attention away from him...there was a mention or two int he reports about him not being a great skater needing to work on his burst/initial strides etc.

MAB is in the area...a friend of mine talked to him Friday. She said he seemed to be fine. A comeback would be a bit of a long shot, but I'd love to see it. He was a good looking young prospect when healthy. |

You mean the guy who's dealing with conky problems?
Even if he wasn't dealing with them, i still wouldn't have such high hopes since he played a whopping 40 or so games. |

MAB looked to have a good mix of physicality and offensive skill when he was up with the Flyers. I really did like him.
Related to the whole injury thing, I do hope Grossman is pretty healthy next season. Losing the stability he brings is hard to overcome, and he was a force on the PK. |

I will admit i was surprised by him not being completely horrible after being a complete dud in the AHL.
But if it comes down to an inexperienced young guy for that 6th spot, im taking Gus every single time over MAB. |

Jackets with a 4-3 win over sharks.
Bob with 32 saves, what an amazing story if this team actually makes it into the post season (even in a shortened one). |

the fact that the devils didn't make the playoffs (now 2 out of the last 3 years) gives me some solace as our poopty season comes to an end. |

Like the Bryz signing of 2 summers ago, I feel since we missed out of the better dmen last year, Snider tells Homer to pull the trade of Cooter ofr Yandle the smelly candle. |

Devils first rounder quits team, in the middle of a playoff series
http://ca.sports.yahoo.co...ly-quits-b-034759479.html
The Devils were criticized for even using the pick, which was 29th, rather than choosing to forfeit it in the Kovalchuk contract penalty. They will now likley have to forfeit their pick in the 2014 draft, even if it's a top one. |

Wahow. And his father is a coach.
Wow what a punk. Even funnier is the one comment on the story saying the coach needs to get over it.
