Not that it will influence what they do free agency or draft wise it can possibly reset things is how they view them & how they feel they can help. - ob18
If any of them play well enough to suddenly displace a possible trade or FA addition, I'd have to wonder how it is they never got a shot earlier.

Unfortunately, they're getting to the point where they need to consider a buyout this summer. The cap situation does them no favors, and going with a Mason-FNG guy tandem, behind a more responsibly defensive team, might have to do.
I'm as big a Bryz guy as there is, but if he needs a solid defensive team in front of him to sustain his level of play at a high quality state, then I'd rather pay less.
All those years of a goalie carousel, there were maybe 3 where the goaltending was the primary reason for a playoff loss. Just as I say that other coaches get more out of less talented teams, other goalies could provide the level of play Bryz has, for less money and aggrivation. - Jsaquella
I completely understand that, but if we're going to get another goalie lets focus on who is available and or better.

It's not just a question of who is better, it has to be what is better for the team, both on the ice, in the room and on the spreadsheet.
With the cap dropping next year, the financial aspect is huge. If the best Bryz can provide is .905/2.60, then they can find a cheaper option that can give them that.

Devils still have yet to relinquish their 1st-round pick from the Kovalchuk sanctions... how delicious would it be if they put it off again this year, were worse in 2013-14, and were forced to give up the pick that would have gotten them Connor McDavid?
That Stefan Matteau pick is looking pretty ridiculous right about now.

Especially since Matteau left his team in the middle of a playoff series. Character guy.
They will likely not forfeit the pick this year. They're in the lottery and the draft is being held in Newark.

I just hope they give Akeson, McGinn and Konan some games. Might as well see how they respond. Akeson was a good soldier, accepting a demotion to the ECHL and it'd be interesting to see how his game looks against NHL competition. - Jsaquella
Akeson's put up points and shown growth at every level, so that's a really positive sign. If he makes a quick transition in these final games, it could make the summer even more interesting.

2 things either they didn't believe in them or didn't believe they'd be able to adjust well enough long term under Lavvy

Most important decision of the summer. Unless they look at firing the coach.
Bryz is actually going to be highest paid goalie in the league next season in terms of salary ($8M) -- $1M over the next closest guy (Quick) and $3M more than Hank -- that's even more mind-boggling. - Tomahawk
Not really a good point. Bryzgalov is in the early years of a front loaded contract. Lunqvist is the last year of his contract, and he lowest salary year of his current deal. What do you think Lundqvist is going to get in his next deal? Also doesn't take into account how salaries have escalated and the difference in time of when each player signed their deals.
Kudos to Bryz's agent. Was there anyone else in the bidding war for Bryz or did Holmgren bid against himself? The Flyers tend to pay top dollar for Free Agents which is why their agents like the Flyers. - Flyers_01
Just the Flyers pay top dollar for top Free Agents? No other team does?
