Gene Hart was unquestionably my favorite all time hockey announcer, but Gary Thorne was definitely next on the list.

I honestly don't mind Howie. Jiggs is okay. Most annoying announcer to me is Rick Jeanneret, though Jim Jackson for the Flyers is so damn whiney about every call.....

I liked Jeanerette's call last night. Not an exact quote, but: "Wellwood won't be back; he injured his hand. I don't know if that's an upper or lower body injury. I guess it depends where your hands are."

He was horrendous also.
I wonder if the Bklyn move will change any of these guys. I read that Snow and Wang are in charge of hockey ops but Ratner/Nets are in charge of the business side. Not sure if that has anythign to do with announcers or anyone else, probably not.
At least we know the low budget, Hofstra student edited Isles commercials will come to an end during the games.

The Brooklyn move instantly makes them a much bigger and more prefessional market. Just like at MSG, there will be plenty of "suits" at Isles games at the Barclays Center and the Sparky/Bailey in chains push up commercials will come to an end.

I don't mind him either...but I've long ago realized my view on announcers is way off compared to most here

He's homerish in how he calls goals, hits, etc., but not homerish in a whiny Pens/Bruins announcer sort of way where they complain about calls and insult other organizations.

Howie screams LOUDER when the other team scores...that ALONE clarifies his allegiance. He's a double agent....

Howie rose is a baseball stat nerd who couldn't wait for pitchers and catchers to report, as per his flub up during the isles broadcast. Last but not least he's a ranger fan.

I hated fios changed within the month back to optimum

i wish, id love to know him; there are very few things that are as enjoyable as talking to a knowledge, level-headed, articulate sports person.

I didn't want to say anything but If I'm wishing I was friends with somebody it sure as hell wouldn't be Howie Rose

Funny how subjective it all is. I think Doc's great. And I actually don't mind Micheletti at all...never got why both Isles and Rangers fans dump on him all the time. I'm also with X...don't like Howie. More than anything, it's the horrible jokes and annoying banter. Also, the overly superstitious part of me hates when he keeps bringing up streaks at the worst possible times. There's a code to follow, Howie!

Jiggs was great. But now maybe three out of every five calls he makes are actually correct. Not really his fault though...the guy's just old and probably out of practice.

The new guy the Devils have is worse than Howie though. He's a little better this season at least. Last season, whenever he'd call a goal his voice would shoot up to a glass-shattering high pitch. Not so much now, but he still sounds like a "wacky radio DJ" most of the time.

I'd get a dish if I could but our highrise in the city doesnt allow them. Plus with dish I would get all the awesome sports packages that come with it and my wife would complain that Im watching too much football and hockey.
