See what I mean? I neve bring it up but when the children make stupid comments sometimes I like to bring them back to realty. But I'll leave it alone for now.
Some others mentioned the reason we are here is because of secondary scoring and ill agree to a point. But if there's one thing that got us here its nabby. Without him we are a lottery team. - kencan98
nabby from the first month is totally different from the nabby of the last month and a half. He's stopped allowing a lot of the softies we saw early in the season and has been rock solid for a while now. Add in the vast improvement on defense as well as the forwards mostly picking up the correct defensive assignments on the backcheck. Then also add in the contribution of the second line offensively while playing against the top lines of the opponents AND the third and fourth lines chipping in offensively while also adding a physical forecheck to the table.
The difference in this team is night and day. I do agree with you that Nabby has been a major part of this great stretch of hockey they've played but the whole team has improved in almost every area. It's been shocking to watch and I won't lie, I'm holding my breath until they clinch a spot. It's unlikely they'd miss entirely right now, but the teams chasing them haven't exactly slowed down either. This has been the most enjoyable hockey I've watched in years.
While I would hate to see them play the Pens, if they get in I'll be stoked and watching every minute of it. Just need to clinch. Let me relax a moment.
I feel like Charlie Brown about to kick the fvcking football for the first time, and until I make contact I won't fully believe it.

The last couple of games we seemed to play a little looser, most noticeable in florida. I hope they tighten up a bit more tonight and establish that forecheck they had in the 12 games prior. That was a huge reason for our success. Puck posession/forecheck. Definitely seemed to be lacking the last couple. As for the bold |

Isles remind me of rangers last year. You guys outwork every team every shift every gsme. Your talent is good enough, as is Nabokov to go far. No reason you can't beat any team you play
Although getting past Pitt for both of us could be our Achilles heel. Whoever plays them needs fleury to be awful |

Would NEVER choose Optimum over FiOS but am pissed the next 2 games are on MSG+2......no HD for me. Not like Dolan will authorize a switch and regulate an eliminated team to non-HD - 1since40
dont you now they need to televise the rangers on two channels. |

Which is a possibility. They also sometimes don't respond right away to getting their stars back in the line up. It seems to almost disrupt the chemistry that was created in their absence? |

I don't think getting Crosby, Malkin, Neal and Letang back will be detrimental to the Pens' Cup run |

I truthfully don't care who Islanders will play against. The only thing that matters to me dearly is to see them make it into the playoffs. We are hungry for it and we can feel it because we have this great feeling in ourselves that they are destined for something magical this year. I haven't felt it since.....god I don't remember! I am tired of seeing teams make it into the playoffs all the time while we never had a shot. This is our chance to make it into the playoffs and show them that we mean business. I am very impressed with what Islanders have been doing in April. It is a new team that we aren't accustomed to. I don't care how they found it or they had magical beans and ate it but I like it! I felt that Cizikas, Martin, Mcdonald are the key players that made a difference. Tavares has been our savior for years and he finally received some notice for it.
Let's beat Hurricanes boys! They might have beat us twice this year but that was before we found our destiny! Let's attack them! no mercy!

I hear you . Happened to them last year though. There seems to be a little transition time for them for whatever reason? I think you know what I'm talking about? Notice how I put "right away" there, they will "respond" but not right away. (frank)ing hate those guys |

huh??? no thanks.
id rather have nabby over an unsused TT and i certainly dont want to give up the pick it would cost the team to have him play....
and you think garth is a bad gm??? - LetsGoIsles
Short answer is no but like the pa/boyes discussion....lets not go there right now. All that matters is winning & getting 6th (or 5th?) in the standings. |

The Islanders owe Carolina a beating tonight. they had Carolina beat twice already this year, only to watch Carolina come back in the third. That was a different team that kept blowing 3rd period leads. I don't forsee the Isles losing to Carolina tonight, now with all that's riding on this game for them. - Jethro09
At least Washington has a real reason to beat the Jets tonight, they will be working hard, unlike Buffalo and others. |

this is something I could not/would not have expected at beginning of season. The bottom four seem (almost)inverted from what we're used to seeing.
If anyone placed a bet in vegas, coulda made a pretty penny.
