Did they fire jaffe? Or did he quit? He still does hockey night live. Wonder what happen there
- Slimtj100

He was "let go". That means fired to me. Guy was awesome. He was critical at times which is probably what lead to his being "let go". One of the best commentators I've seen in my time, extremely knowledgable. Unlike that douche Michiletti that you have now who I can't believe ever laced up a pair of skates. Guy does'nt know his a$$ from his elbow. Terrible

The Isles got rid of him because they felt he was too critical which means he didn't shy away from the truth So they hired Butch who has a better command of the scotch bottle then he does of the English language

He's a younger fan, I would think most of the older guys would always pick Jiggs for the most part?

Could you imagine a tandem of Michiletti & Goring?

This is true growing up with Jiggs helps, but Jiggs has such a great voice.. i cant listen to Howie & when he's on the screen talking I just want to punch him in the f'in mouth.

He is knowledgeable about the sport, but he has a face & voice for newspapers

Yeah, he's an ugly SOB but he is knowledgable. He does'nt piss me off as much as other people i guess? I'm just glad to be rid of Michiletti, have no idea how or why the NHL has him announce big games. He's awful. Jiggs voice is one of the best in sports.

agreed on the mets...howie is great.

disagree with islanders...hes great; gotta let the fact that he once liked the rangers not get in the way of the fact that the guy knows his stuff, is knowledgeable and calls a great game.

I wonder if Sam Rosen retired as the Rangers TV announcer, would Howie Rose try and get the job...since he'a rangers fan?

Oh don't fool yourself, he still does. Very much so. Lets it slip out sometimes during games. He did'nt change sides bcs he's announcing for the Islanders. With that said i still think he's pretty good.
