Then why not fire him and just let Holmgren be the coach? I think Laviolette decides who dresses and the roles they play. - Jsaquella
agreed, I very much doubt that Holmgren chooses the lineup. Konan should certainly play over Lilja and if Fedotenko isn't coming back, I'd rather see McGinn in his spot too. |

I guess I am one of those lucky one's that can push down anything and never gain a pound. Everyone says it will slow down one day but it hasn't yet at the age of 22.
I'd be the first to probably die in a food shortage though. - flyer_nutter
It won't until you get older. 22 is nothing. I didn;t gain weight until I was in my 30's. . |

Why not? Look at Carolina after they won the Cup. Look at how he's coached the last two years here. He's stubborn to the point where it's a detriment. - Jsaquella

Think about the logic you're using here. You're complaining about Konan not playing, and Lilja is. And calling it an AHL defense. Would it be less of an AHL defense if Lilja was scratched, and Konan was playing? - MJL
I dont give a flying (frank) about it being an AHL defense. Lilja sucks. Give the kid playing time, not the 38 year old vet who sucks.
Funny that Mason gets huge cheers and Lilja gets practical silence. The crowd has spoken.

Partly because I cant believe he would be this continously stupid.
Big test for Mason, Boston is looking to get back on track. - flyer_nutter
Don't see how with the injuries to the defense, that playing a player with NHL experience is stupid, over playing a kid who has never played an NHL game. If a Coach is actually still trying to win games, it seems smart to play the experienced veteran.

Nice tribute to Boston.
A terrotist plot to de-rail one of the Via passenger trains was also stopped in Canada recently.

You obviously do care, because you labeled it an AHL defense, And wished Mason good luck.

I understand the rationale of "rewarding" a guy with a NHL call up, just to be around the team...at the same time, where's the harm in dressing them?
Granted, Laughton can't play, or it burns a year off his ELC. But the others? Get them in the lineup. |

So maybe Knuble should get playing time over someone like Akeson then?
What a load of poop. Lilja is a piece of poop whos about as useless as Shelley. Hes old, slow and sucks. Some beer leaguers here could be just as good.
These games are meaningless. The kid would be sparked to play in his first NHL game, and might play well. You know what you're getting with Lilja |

He's about as useful as a pilon. Although im sure the pylon could do a better job of defending
Lilja should be in the ECHL. Even there he'd be a 2nd pairing guy |

It's true. We all knew the deficiencies on this defense, yet Laviolette made minimal adjustments until they were down two or three guys from the top six. It's the same sort of thing he did in Carolina. He won with one system/style and is loathe to change it. |

Absolutely! The best coaches adapt and tweak their systems to fit their talent.
Now Hartnell remembers how to score, sheesh! |
