I hope I am wrong but I thought I heard jj say that Rosehill signed a 2 year contract extension. |

He did. Same day as Rinaldo's two-year extension. |

Funny how an ECHL defenseman has fooled so many NHL coaches into dressing him in over 600 NHL regular season + playoff games.
As I see it, here's the reality: He's at the end of a career as a serviceable bottom-pairing NHL defensive D. He was adequate as a 6/7 last year but should have been on a one-year instead of two-year deal. After his hip surgery, he came back a step slower -- and he was very slow to begin with -- and lost out on his role to a younger Dman (Gervais) this year. - bmeltzer
A lot of the Lilja invective tonight, mine included, comes from a desire to see Konan get his feet wet and get a better idea of what he can do firsthand. I'd be surprised if more than a handful of us have ever seen him play |

Ya the ECHL comment was overboard Bill. Just frustrated they werent giving a young guy in Konan a chance to play in an NHL game, when he'd likely only play a few in his career.
Not a Lilja fan as you can see. Never was. |

Yep, two years, low cash...not a fan of carrying an enforcer, but I have very little issue with his contract. |

Shattenkirk should be on Homers top priority
StL has a poop load of RFA's they need to resign, and they are never a top spending team. Never have been.
With the acquisition of JBow, somebody will be moved... Shats is highly likely now that they got JBow, and have good young dmen.
If im Homer im going straight after Shats when the season is over. - FLYERSROCK!
I feel like someone has my balls in a vice whenever I watch soft D even if they have offensive talent.
Never really a fan. If they want to go the way of Shattenkirk I rather almost at this point give Guss a shot. |

I like Shattenkirk, but he'd be a plan B for me. - Jsaquella
Who'd be a plan A in your mind?
I really cant see Homer not getting a top 4 dman this offseason... its our biggest need. And quite frankly he should be fired if he doesnt get us one.
Many of young RFA dmen out there this year--- idk how many are available but with J Bow in StL he highly likely could be had for a good price |

Would rather go after Yandle than Shattenkirk, but apparently Phoenix has him confused with Ray Bourque and want the moon for him. I wouldnt be shocked of St Louis re- signed Piets and Shattenkirk and made JayBo available. I'd offer Mez, a 3rd this year and a 1st next year for him. JayBo and Schenn would be a very solid top pair. |

I think Shattenkirk will go from good number two guy making a fair amount of cash to an overpaid guy forced to be a number one.
I'd prefer a more all situation guy, who isn't looking at a big pay raise. |

Ok that is not so bad then. With a healthy lineup I wonder how many games he would get in to in a regular season. |

When healthy (started out with an injury), Konan was the Phantoms 5th to 7th D all year behind Gustafsson, MAB (pre-concussion), Manning, Syvret and Lauridsen. He played behind Cullen Eddy at times in terms of TOI.
Konan may in time be a legit NHL callup candidate but the ONLY reason he was called up now was because of the spate of injuries and they wanted an extra body. He did improve over the course of this season and next year will be an important one in his development.
Regardless of if he played tonight, it wasn't going to affect his chances of making the team early next season. In fact, when training camp opens, Mark Alt will be slotted above him on the depth chart.

Hell naw man. cant agree here
Shattenkirk isnt that soft IMO, hes a perfect top 4 dman.
gus is still young an unproven. Shats is more proven and has potential to be a top pairing guy
Yandle is soft too, softer, ys, softer than Matt Carle. Do you not want him either? You cant be picky when it comes to things like that. If its a good deal for Shats then you do it. |

It is really does. B Schenn is not up to being a second line NHL center right now. - Feanor
This is great in theory, unfortunately Coots hasn't shown he's up to it either at least not yet. |

I didn't expect him being on the roster next year, more just to get a chance to see him play for myself. I think I've only seen him play twice, and honestly he didn;t stand out |

That's true, which is where my issue with Laviolette comes from. Couturier, especially this year, has been kept on a real short leash. He was at the point where he'd make a mistake and get buried. That seemed to have him playing worried, which of course led to more mistakes.
I just can't recall many guys who were as highly regarded as Couturier is by the Flyers, who routinely got "saddled"(for lack of a better word) with such low quality linemates as kids |

I mainly watched Shattenkirk when he was with Colorado. Opposing teams would probably put their star players out and try to expose his side of the ice.
He is soft to me.
And yes, I would prefer to not give up pieces for Yandle. Just a personal thing. If you want to know what kind of young d-men I prefer, its guys like Fowler for example. Not that he is available. |

Im still not sure about trying to aquire a dman who's nickname is "Shats". If your nickname is a synonym of poop, what does that say about your game XD |
