Homer response .

If it was reversed and say Suter did this to Carter you would be crying for life suspension.

I'm a big big brown fan but that was one of the dirtiest elbows I have seen in recent years. Down right disgusting and pathetic.

Agree with the part about being a big fan of Brown, but this is not, at all, "one of the dirtiest elbows I have seen in recent years." It was a forceful elbow that will probably garner a 2-gamer, but you make it sound like he charged Pommer and did a Macho Man flying elbow. Volchenkov and Erskine come to mind as more malicious ones. This was more similar to the one that gave Neal a concussion than those 2 (not the same, just more in line with it).

It looked like Brown was bracing for a hit he saw coming, Pominville pulled up short to play the puck, and Brown followed through on countering the check by extending the arm a little and resulted in an elbow.

I cannot see this as a dirty play, seeing how Brownie's MO is to hit first and ask questions later. But I agree with some out there that it was a little reckless, even though Pominville initiated the contact, and may be worthy of a (very) small suspension. 1 game if any, hopefully just a fine or less.

Might have been one of his best checks in his career if he did that. Softest player on Sabres team last 5 years.

It looked like Brown thought he was going to get hit so he threw his elbow out. It's an elbow to the head. He will get suspended

Not sure if you've watched many hockey games but that has to be one of the dumbest statements by anybody! Like I said, just like the NFL, THE WUSSIFICATION of hockey is in full force! We all know what a cheap shot or intent to hurt is and this ain't one of them.

Yep, not arguing with you on that one. Obligatory homer call for a fine, but if a suspension it just should not be anything more than 1-2. Just my .02.

lets be honest, pomminville has never checked someone hard in his entire career.
- qcstudios

And that has what to do with what?? someone coming at you against the board your going to react! Pomminville didn't exactly choose his method of engaging the opposition very well did he?

2 games maximum. I doubt the NHL would suspend the reigning Cup champion's captain for the start of the playoffs unless it was a cut-and-dry obvious intent to injure. So he'll get to sit down for the last 2 games of the regular season and that will be the end of it. Is it fair? No. But that's what it is.

i dont think brown felt "threatened" by a big body check coming from Pommer...IMO, Brown stopped playing the puck on the play to make it a point to body check pommer before he could touch the puck (i guess you could call it protecting the puck in a way) but got his elbow up.

that is all.

No intent, but still reckless. He may get some time off as a result. Mostly, just hope Pommer is ok.

Didn't know being against cheap shots "elbows to the face" that are deliberate means i like wussy hockey. I played ice hockey for several years and loved the physical part of the sport. I also loved hockey in the 90's for the most part because of the pyhsical play.

This isn't a physical play. Its a deliberate elbow to the face of a player. Case Closed.

No intent? Looked as though Brown saw him and put his elbow up... I'll have to agree to disagree I guess.

Agreed on all fronts.
If this were a week ago, he may get 3-4 games (maybe). As it is now, I really don't see them suspending him for a playoff game. Even without the playoffs, and I may be biased towards Brown here, but I didn't think it warrants more than 1-2.
