Everyone knows that it is going to take kings ransom to get to the top 3. Unless you are willing to give up both the first Rd picks + a 2nd + a player. you are probably not getting into the top 3.
Miller does not have that kind of value, IMO. Plus he can block whatever trade he wants. You really dont think FLA, COL, would be on his no trade list? - ImThatGuy
FLA may be appealing to Mrs. Miller.

No intent? Looked as though Brown saw him and put his elbow up... I'll have to agree to disagree I guess. - Smittyx36
In a replay slowed down to 4x, yeah it looks that way sure. Intent here = "put my elbow into his head" which I don't buy. He was certainly trying to be an unpleasant thing to run into, and in doing so got his elbow where it shouldn't be. That's why I see it as reckless, more than malicious. |

been hearing about this hit all morning on WGR. read the kings fans posts here. still had not seen it. so i went to see the play in anticipation of coming back here to blast the homer LA fans.
WOW. talk about an over reaction. im not surprised there was no penalty called and i think there will be no suspension. it was a hockey play. do elbows sometimes hit faces in hockey? yup.
im totally against thug/stupid plays but a player needs to be responsible for himself as well... |

Not sure if you've watched many hockey games but that has to be one of the dumbest statements by anybody! Like I said, just like the NFL, THE WUSSIFICATION of hockey is in full force! We all know what a cheap shot or intent to hurt is and this ain't one of them. - arh777
Right trying to protect players from permanent brain damage = wussification. |

mostly agree. however i think that the arm coming up in that situation is a natural reaction to an oncoming player. i play goalie so no personal experience but it seems like falling forward face first- impossible not to put your arms out. |

It's not the worst hit in the world. But he elbowed someone who was trying to play the puck. He should get at least a game |

Are we missing the part of the play where Brown lets the puck go, puts his elbow up, leans in, and drills pommer in the face??? Are we not seeing the same hit??? WOW |

The only fool here is Shannahan if he suspends Brown. Elbow never came above shoulder, had controll of puck, Oh and Pominville dropped his head down and lead with his face just before the hit. Clean hit no suspension. All you shedding tears for him should let him know most people don't try to check with their face. - bcbanger

But if the guy coming at him (remove who it was to remove bias - not insinuating any on your part, just in general) was in a "normal" stance and not hunched over, the elbow likely wouldn't have even been shoulder high, would it?
My connection is very choppy on the video, but to me it didn't look like he did much in moving his arm/elbow up more than a small amount. The whole thing looks to be bad because of the height at which the incoming player was at. |

Salty much? Maybe you can get Kesler to show Pominville how to do the double somersault dive to get the call. |

Agreed. Terrible non-call on the ice, not sure it requires supplimental discipline, however, Brown seems to get away with murder on the ice against any team he plays due to these ambiguous and border line agregious infractions. Maybe a 2 game suspension leading into the playoffs is what this guy needs as a wake up call that the league is on to his underhanded and under the radar cheap shots. |

Only problem is, throwing an elbow back regardless of where it's targeted is considered elbowing... Throwing a shoulder back would have been a different story. Although Coyle got a match penalty and a 5 minute major for throwing a shoulder into the face of Anisimov which shouldn't have even been a penalty. This is an elbow to the face and no call whatsoever is made with the line judge only 30 ft away looking directly at the infraction. |

It looked like Brown was bracing for a hit he saw coming, Pominville pulled up short to play the puck, and Brown followed through on countering the check by extending the arm a little and resulted in an elbow.
I cannot see this as a dirty play, seeing how Brownie's MO is to hit first and ask questions later. But I agree with some out there that it was a little reckless, even though Pominville initiated the contact, and may be worthy of a (very) small suspension. 1 game if any, hopefully just a fine or less. - cryptical77
It looks like Brown got his elbow up because he knew someone was coming in. You don't brace yourself by raising your elbow. |

Agreed. You could see Brown's facial expression turn to a fit of anger and disgust as Pommer approaches. He blantantly drops his stick, grabs Pommer by the back of the head and smashes Pommer's face against his elbow repeatedly before picking up his stick and bludgeoning Pommer's face with it. 5523436 game suspension!!! |

Another example of a Brown cheap shot. Guys a great player and carried his team to the cup last year but also one of the easiest to dislike. He is a coward and a diver at his worse. |

Pominville never had the puck. Usually interference is called when someone who is going for the puck gets drilled in the face before he even touches it. It was a dirty play and Brown knew what he was doing, he was more concerned with knocking into Pominville than keeping the puck on his stick. Regardless of wether he intended to elbow him in the chops, he did and he should get 2 games IMO |

At full speed, it looks like Brown sees a hit coming, prepares to push back, the hit doesn't come, Brown follows through. Elbow comes up after Pommer starts to stop short. All with the benefit of super slo-mo of course. Reckless? OK. Dirty? No. |

I think you're missing the fact that guys like Brown are notorious for these kinds of infractions. If you think for a second that he wasn't aware of what he was doing, think again. I've seen Brown make reckless plays like this one his whole career. He continues to get away with them because he's an expert at making them look ambiguous and somewhat non-intentional. IMO, anyone blindly throwing their elbow back at an on-coming player is trying to inflict unnecessary damage to that player. This is what Brown does and that's the kind of player he is. |

And we all love Mark Messier and Gordie Howe for doing it every game of their careers. |

And as you could guess, same here. Been watching him his entire career. And until I see cut-and-dry dirty plays, he won't be a dirty player. He plays with an edge, always near the top in hits, and forces a lot of opposing fans to hate him. So be it. |
