Should be treated as if it were a high stick. Accident or blantant. still get disiplinary treatment. - cabin
Exactly, but most high sticks don't result in more than 2 or 4 minute penalties. It was a reckless play, and will be dealt with as such. It was not this horrible dirty intent to injure that some people are talking about.

I tired to find a stop being a ass emoticon, but I am at work and when I typed that into google images search I had to close it rather quickly! - ImThatGuy
He didnt throw his elbow back. The elbow came from the side and Pommer came in pretty low. His face is basically parallel with Browns elbow. Brown makes contact to make a clean get away with the puck. If elbow was down it would have been maybe a shoulder. Should Brown not make the contact at all? Should he let Pommer just come over and poke the puck? Does it suck Pommer got hurt. Of course it does. But he should be smarter about it. - poisondhearts37
Dude seriously, the play that Pominville makes there happens multiple times a night. Brown saw Pominville coming, extended his elbow and forced his body into his face. Clearly intentional.
What the hell was he 'defending' himself from? Pominville was leaning back on his skates as he comes towards Brown, not going for a hit at all and just trying to move the puck along the boards.
If the play that Brown made was normal or OK half the league would have concussions.
Is gartn clueless? How does he have the sabers picking top 7 when right now their picking 10th, also the wild are not missing the playoffs. This is a very heavy top 5 draft. After five it falls of quite a bit.
Pomminville skated in face first, not very smart for a guy with concussion problems!
Brown will get a suspension I suspect but man has this has become a wussy sport at times. Brown was protecting himself the way Brown knows how and that's to hurt the guy trying to hurt him. - arh777
Concussion problems?
He has had one before last night.
And as you could guess, same here. Been watching him his entire career. And until I see cut-and-dry dirty plays, he won't be a dirty player. He plays with an edge, always near the top in hits, and forces a lot of opposing fans to hate him. So be it. - cryptical77
In the end, it does not matter if it was a dirty play or he intended to injure him.
What matters is that it was an elbow to the head, and is why he will get a game or two. That's it.
You are accountable for your actions every second you are on the ice as a player.
In a replay slowed down to 4x, yeah it looks that way sure. Intent here = "put my elbow into his head" which I don't buy. He was certainly trying to be an unpleasant thing to run into, and in doing so got his elbow where it shouldn't be. That's why I see it as reckless, more than malicious. - nfph
It would be fun watching these guys try and throw elbows without the extra padding and plastic caps.
The first time they tossed one, missed a bit, and caught the boards, cracking their elbow, would be the last time they attempted to throw one.

That's all you need in this league! How anybody can simply ignore simple physics is beyond me.
Question number 1: Who is moving here?
Question number 2: When a object is moving forward at a object that is nearly stationary, who usually wins??
Question number 3: When you lead with your face, moving forward toward an object that is nearly stationary, and hit said object, what usually happens??
Lets see who can be intellectually honest with the answers instead of whinners about an elbow!

And that's what's wrong with what their doing to the game of hockey just like the NFL!
You clearly see Brown move forward elbow extended and obviously Jpom's face is principle point of contact. And after Brown's little chicken-wing move against Dallas the other night my guess is he sits Kings last 2 regular season games if for nothing else but to calm him down a bit. Brown isn't an overly dirty player (at least no more then anyone else) but he's play Pominville before and he knows he doesn't check body always plays puck, he knew what he was doing.
Wow, so if Fraser is dishing out the punishment, Brown did nothing wrong.
Makes me think Brown gets fined and that is it. - fsanford
I have to question whether Fraser saw only the Kings feed angle, or all angles. He links us to the Kings feed. The reason I ask is because his argument claims "Brown tucks his elbow before the hit", and thats his bases for ruling it should be nothing and the onus is on Pominville. But from the MN feed, you clearly see that he actually leads with his elbow.

If you want to speak intellectually, let's break down how to skate forward without leading with your face(head). How is that physically possible? By way of natural physical structure, your ALWAYS leading with your head. When a player is squared up on a guy skating forward it's pretty difficult to lead with any other part of your body.
These arguments are assnine, the guy threw his elbow back into Pominvilles face. End of story. So talking about momentum, physics, or leading with a certain part of your body are all completely irrelavant.
Last time I checked, if a guy throws an elbow whether a guy is leading with his face/head, shoulder, back or ass, it's still elbowing if that player makes contact with said players head or upper body!!!!!!!!!!!!!
