Sure because every prospect is a franchise player, right? How many Norris trophies will Hamilton win again?
4 years after the trade, the Leafs got easily the best player in the deal. - RogerRoeper
And we got a cup and are set for the next 6-8 years with a core that your GM gave us the tools to go get, if you didnt give em to us directly

FWIW I still expect Seguin to be a better all round player than PhiL for the duration of his career. |

Yeah.....I represent the Bruins. They love my opinion.
Is that how you wanna make yourself feel better after running your mouth in here and not having a pot to piss in because Toronto blows?

Sure. We keep hearing that. Seguin is one-dimensional right now. Check that, he can't score, so there's no dimension. |

It is refreshing to see a young Jason Blake though I must admit.
I mean who doesn't love seeing a guy skate like the wind only to shoot directly at the goalie from a bad angle. It's nice. |

Dougie Hamilton is way too slow to be the future star many think he will be. |

And now he can wear an OHL looking jersey in Dallas while we get a 2way sniper who is willing to waive a NTC to come to our team, plus, there are 2 prospects that are NHL ready-and one projected as a 25 goal scorer.
I'm very happy with the deal - bruinsbeer69

The following off-season, on June 24, 2006, Raycroft was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the rights to Finnish goaltending prospect Tuukka Rask.[1] It was later revealed that the Bruins intended to release him, which would have made him available to Toronto without any compensation at all |

Worst trade in Leaf history.
The Kessel trade was a solid one for the Leafs, however. |

They probably would not have traded for Toskala later if they didn't make the Rask trade either so you can almost add that to its destructiveness. Brutal. |

That was the downfall of JFJ. Other than the goaltending disaster, he wasn't too bad. His late round drafting was superb. They should have hired him as top scout, not GM. They could have had Jim Nill as GM, JFJ as top scout in 03'. They picked him over Nill.
The upsetting thing is, all JFJ had to do was sign Manny Legace for cheap as a UFA as a veteran stop-gap. There was no need to rush and decide between Pogge/Rask so fast. |

I said the same thing right after the trade went down.
And yes, JFJ does seem to have a good eye for amateur talent. |
