Remember when he threw Coburn under the bus after a bad goal?
I seem to recall that they called him into a meeting with the team leaders after that... something about needing to be a better teammate. - Tomahawk
Notice the interviewer lead him along. His initial response was nameless. Sure, he could've not answered that lead, but I see that as another example of the reporter Richardness looking to create drama. |

I recall early in his tenure he kind of threw the defense under the bus in a postgame interview. That said, are you seriously citing Crossing Broad? |

Interesting too because if I'm not mistaken goalies get an automatic 5 game suspension if they fight in the Q, does that mean Armada goes into the next round of the playoffs without there top-2 goalies? Do they even have a 3rd stringer? - GirouxForTheShow
They have them, and apparently both teams will have to play their 3rd stringers. Apparently just for the 5th game. |

That's my issue too. If the rest of the team was grilled as hard and lead on with questions as much as Bryz is, then the whole team wouldn't like each other. |

Makes me feel dirty to defend Panotch, but he just asked him about the play and Bryz threw "bad communication" out there himself and then confirmed it was Coburn when asked. Not sure there's much leading there... it's like watching a guy dig his own tiger trap and then jump right in. |

Of course he was lead. "Coburn?..." That's leading the witness, your honor. |

I thought Armada clinched that series? I didn't read it anywhere, but the scrum started cause one Armada player circled his finger (much like the HR signal in MLB) and I figured it meant "thats a wrap" or "sweep" or something along those lines. |

Anybody who watched the play would know he was talking about Coburn. Timmy was just confirming it -- Bryz just kept going and going. |

No it's 2-2. Not sure what the gesture meant. |

Even the first question, "what happened on the exchange?". How is he supposed to answer? It's a pretty specific and pointed question. So he tells it like it is(was). |

I'm starting to wonder who folks DO consider a reliable media source in these parts other than Bill Meltzer (who is awesome, I agree).
The only one I've criticized here has been Randy Miller, but I get the sense that no one that posts regularly here likes anybody other than Bill. |

Even Eklund blog responders have a right to judge CB, and Ek's threads are the mud underneath the bottom of the barrel |

Ah, I see. Yeah makes that gesture interesting at least. He got pummeled though, I was happy for that. I follow someone that was pretty much live tweeting the scrum, I sat around all night waiting for the video. Great stuff. |

So no need to lead him on then, right?
Imho, Bryz gets crappy treatment from the beat guys. They are real Richards to him and they try to manufacture drama for clicks on their blogs/articles. They don't treat other players like they treat him.

The TSN guys are pretty good, particularly Bob McKenzie. But as far as Crossing Broad goes, Kyle Scott is about as far from a 'reliable media source' as you can get around here. |

That's pretty much true for me.
Bill reports. The beat writers don't.
Bill does not create drama. The beat writers do.
Imho, the only thing that Bill and the beats have in common is that they both write to their respective target audience. And fwiw, I do not click on links tweeted by the beats. |

I think the beat guys set traps for everybody -- the other guys just know not to fall in.
Bryz just can't help himself. |

I read Bill because he can write. I mean, truly write. I don't feel like I'm being condescended to, I don't feel like a monkey with a hammer is on the other end of the screen. He has fantastic insights, does perfectly brilliant reconstructions of the game, and his research astounds. So yes, I really only read him.
Why waste my time with anything but the best?
Wait I'm talking to you guys!

I think they're all pretty reliable when it comes to reporting quotes, recounting rumours and transcribing the game details. It's when they start to offer opinions that it goes off the rails. Also, they seem to have trouble understanding the game so when they start to analyze what's happening on the ice what they tell you often misrepresents the facts.
Some people get angry that they report the rumours. I can understand that but it's what people want to read. Not necessarily the people on this thread but the general population. The rumours don't bother me. |

I kind of agree Bryz isn't helping himself, but I don't agree they treat all players this way. I think they go to guys like Bryz looking for this kind of exchange. And I don't say this in a 'woe is Bryz' way, either. For all the 'trap setting', I think he feeds into it (whether intentionally or not) just enough for them to make a story. And once he's said something, they can't not report it. I don't blame Bryz for 'being Bryz', but he engages them when perhaps he should know not to.
What frustrates me is that the first line of reporting for our sports news concentrates on gossipy material so often. |

Yet, you haven't seen a single Flyers player come out and openly say "Bryz should have had that one" or "We need Bryz to be better" or "He was a bit of an @hole to Bob" or "Yeah, I saw him sleeping in that meeting" or "They'd trade him, but nobody wants him".
So what does that tell you? - Tomahawk
no but they come out ans say bryz will be better. |
