I read Bill because he can write. I mean, truly write. I don't feel like I'm being condescended to, I don't feel like a monkey with a hammer is on the other end of the screen. He has fantastic insights, does perfectly brilliant reconstructions of the game, and his research astounds. So yes, I really only read him.
Why waste my time with anything but the best?
Wait I'm talking to you guys!

Ah, I see. Yeah makes that gesture interesting at least. He got pummeled though, I was happy for that. I follow someone that was pretty much live tweeting the scrum, I sat around all night waiting for the video. Great stuff. - GirouxForTheShow
Who, #18 on the Armada? I think he was the first guy escorted off, still doing the same gesture. And what's with that dude going after Marcoux as he's going off? |

I think they're all pretty reliable when it comes to reporting quotes, recounting rumours and transcribing the game details. It's when they start to offer opinions that it goes off the rails. Also, they seem to have trouble understanding the game so when they start to analyze what's happening on the ice what they tell you often misrepresents the facts.
Some people get angry that they report the rumours. I can understand that but it's what people want to read. Not necessarily the people on this thread but the general population. The rumours don't bother me. - mayorofangrytown
Well, I pretty much played into this description!
You're spot on, though, that they do this because generally it's what people want. I don't like it, but I can't refute it. |

Will do. I haunted the boards for months before I grew insane enough to dip my toe in the water. I treat this like a stress reliever and find myself sharing the funniest bits with the fiancee who STILL thinks I'm a nut for being in here... |

I know about 3 people whom I can talk hockey with, at length, without getting stupid looks and since I don't work with any of them, I end up here. |

Besides who else would laugh at my jokes.
The only other person in the office I know who watches the Flyers is my brand new boss and I had to grit my teeth and not smack him when he spouted off some horrible mainstream media crap.... So yeah I don't bring it up here much |

crossingbroad is the absolute worst of the worst. makes the beat writers look like pulitzer candidates. nothing on that site is in any way reliable, and a lot of it is plagiarized or otherwise stolen and reposted out of context just to try to create drama or controversy. guy is a complete scumbag. |

The first one I assume? Many of the rest begin to get preachy and lose most people...
EDIT: I once gave an ex-boyfriend a leather bound signed Dune... Now of course I am wishing I kept it! - FlyersGrace
The first is the best, a damn near perfect story. The 2nd and 3rd books are pretty good, but then it starts to get a little rough and I could understand if people didn't get into them.
Books signed by Frank Herbert have to be few and far between these days. Is it weird I wish I was your ex-boyfriend? |

I disagree. I think it always makes sense to take the best available player. If there is an exclusive run on the top forwards after Jones is on the board, then the BAP may be a defenseman when the Flyers' turn comes up at #8 or #9 (presuming they don't win the lottery). Otherwise, there is a good chance that player will be a forward. I personally wouldn't pass on any of Monahan, Lindholm or Nichushkin -- in that order -- to take any of the D after Jones. - bmeltzer

I thought the 2nd, which was a direct sequel was pretty good, the 3rd not so much. However I really loved God Emperor of Dune, the character of Emperor Leto is one of the most fascinating in all of sci-fi
Everything else that followed was meh |

That's pretty much true for me.
Bill reports. The beat writers don't.
Bill does not create drama. The beat writers do.
Imho, the only thing that Bill and the beats have in common is that they both write to their respective target audience. And fwiw, I do not click on links tweeted by the beats. - Scoob
The last local reporter to cover the Flyers as well as Bill was Jay Greenberg, and that is going WAY back! |

Yes, Greenberg saved all his rumours and innuendo and published them in books.
He was the smart one.
Morganti was a great writer. I always liked Parent, Sanfilippo and Chuck Gormley |

Anybody check out the end of the game all out brawl between Blainville-Boisbriand's & Baie-Comeau
http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/
All 4 goalies have been suspended each team will have their 3rd string goalies in net for game 4
A total of 11 players suspended and each coach gone for 2 games. Some of the players hit with a $1,000 fine (not sure how they'll even be able to pay it) |
