Does anyone else feel like the good play of the young and patchwork has made Coburn and Mez expendable? When i say expendable trading away for some cap space and getting something in return? I get the feeling Homer is going to get his #1 d-man this season even if overpayment is needed just hoping its minimal damage.

Remember when he threw Coburn under the bus after a bad goal?

I seem to recall that they called him into a meeting with the team leaders after that... something about needing to be a better teammate.

Part of it is enhanced media scrutiny... but allegations of him being less than an ideal teammate have dogged him for years.

Don't have a problem with anything he said there. He didn't throw anybody, including Coburn under the bus. he answered the questions honestly.

Every damn time I watched that movie and saw the woman, my balls started to hide.

I haven't heard Bryz say that Coburn is a large turnstile this year either. Bryz gets grilled by the media because he is a goalie and its Philadelphia, as well as I think there is a bit of a language barrier. Not in that he isn't smart, but just the culture difference and the way things are interpreted. He gets grilled with the hard "why isn't this team performing" questions moreso than anyone on the team, and there has been numerous occasions where he looks like he is trying to search for the answer without stepping on toes, and it almost got to the point where he was just shrugging at those questions and saying "I dont know".

At the very least, he told it how it is. Lack of preparation, not enough grinding, not enough paying attention to details in the defensive zone. I have not once heard him come out and openly or even implicating at criticizing a teammate.

the media has really shown its ugly side with this team over the past 5 years. they know nothing of the sport, so they look to start sh!t.

Richards didn't give them good enough sound bites or blew them off at times, so they started stirring the pot with him. Bryz too. And so will the next player that does it to them. If they actually asked good, reasonable questions, they might actually get material to work with. But to them, its more like the WWF atmosphere is what they want to shovel out to the fans. its lazy journalism.
If Giroux has a lack-luster year next year, it will happen to him too.

The one thing that I dislike is they are basically rooting for the guy to fail. Crosby has probably had more media attention than anyone since coming into the league, but most of it is all positive.

Today's media in general is a joke. Notice during any kind of reporting, not just sports, how much they try and sensationalize every story. Its no longer reporting, and honestly never was since I came to North Ameria back in '97.

Yet people just follow what is told to them. For a lot of things, too many sheep.
