how has mason been as a flyer in terms of stats - 2Real
Well, it's a very small sample size, obviously, but he has posted a .936 SV %, which would be ranked second in the league, and a 2.07 G.A.A., which would be good for 6th in the league...plus you get the superior puck handling taboot. |

Depending on how Lauridsen pans out, and also what gives on the injury front, I would not be surprised to see him paired up with Luke Schenn. They look very comfortable together out there. |

Wasnt there a stat about Bryzgalov's first few games he had similar stats?
The one thing about Mason for me, is I dont want the reigns being thrown on his ass. He knows nothing yet of the pressure in Philadelphia, and being labeled that #1 guy.
As I have been for a while I'd lean probably toward a buyout of Bryz/Briere. Using monies to sign Emery/Backstrom, trading for Giordano and signing one of Jagr/Morrow/Iginla if possible. Out as well would be Coburn, and Hartnell.
You would ideally ice a line-up of something like: I'd jump for joy. I also dont think its too unrealistic.
Jagr-Giroux-Voracek
Morrow-Schenn-Simmonds
Laughton-Coots-Read
Rosehill/Cousins-Talbot-Rinaldo
Timonen-Schenn
Giordano-Grossman
Oliver/Guss-Meszaros or FA signing
Backstrom/Emery
Mason
Edit: Or something similar to this general idea. |

makes sense. - Don'tForgetTocchet
I think we should just kill Bryzgalov on here whether he says something we agree with or disagree with. Or maybe we can stop pretending we care about whether we would root for him if the team gave him goal support early on or didn't wear him out with so many breakaways the five skaters might as well have had bullfighter cloaks instead of sticks, as ineffective as they were at mitigating odd-man rushes.
Homer said before the season that Lavi needed to change his system. Lavi disagreed and the Flyers' playoffs chances died on that sacrificial altar. But, y'know... let's blame Bryz.

of course it doesn't matter what i think. but if the players believe that...well, maybe that says more about them than what it says about bryz. - hammarby31

The only thing I would say is this, I root for the team, before any player. Its what they symbolize in my mind. Thats what I cheer for. Its different for those of us not in Philly. |

Too old of a lineup for me. If they buyout Bryz and Briere, Id rather they throw a big offer at Iginla, than try for Morrow. 6.5-7 mil per for 3 years. Swap out Coburn with a younger cheaper more offensive minded Dman.

Not too shabby either. You know the one thing we have in common? Another veteran and power forward.
I believe no team can ever have enough of those. Grind you down, kick you in the ass and score some gritty goals. The consistent ditch diggers and crease crashers never get enough credit. |

Hey Laviolette won a Stanley Cup 7 years ago with another team. And outside of the handling of Bob, Couturier and the mis-use of the current roster, and let's not forget the inability to consistently beat the Rangers, Devils and Bruins...not to mention those pesky Lightning, he's made zero mistakes |

The thing is, you can use that argument (right or wrong) to say that, playing in those circumstances, Bryz isn't being given a fair shake, but it really doesn't do anything to prove that he's played well enough or consistent enough to justify his contract. It's quite possible that he's simply underperformed, even with the deficiencies team in front of him factored in. I don't think anyone can justifiably say that he's been very good this season.

It's really hard to project what the D will look like.
Homer has a whole summer to do his finagling, and who will still be around.
Plus the injury issues.
I think Gus will stick, Ollie will be a call up.
But yeah, what a rocket shot tonight from him. |

Tired of people only using one side of their brain in their criticisms. I have said several times he isn't worth the contract. Doesn't change the fact that the roster in front of him has been a greater waste of payroll $ this season. |
