not COMPLETE overhaul, keep 1 of the 2, trade the other in a deal for yandleogoskisonenkirk, and have lauri and gus hold the 3rd pair. - JAKEw1234
I would let Lauridsen stay most, if not all of next year in the AHL. He's shown promise, but there's no way I hand him a 3rd pair role. |

Pronger can't be bought out, unless he suddenly gets cleared by a doctor to play again. Also, if he retires, it royally screws the Flyers, because then they can not LTIR his $4.93mm cap hit. Pronger will likely stay on LTIR until his deal ends, - Jsaquella
That's beyond (frank)ing stupid. Whoever thought it made sense to have someone who is hurt so badly that he has to retire count against a team's salary cap should be slapped until he cries like a baby.

Why? He seems to be doing pretty well on the first pairing, PK, etc. Especially with all of 15 NHL games under his belt.
I give him a real good look in training camp. Granted, if everybody else comes back healthy, he'd be #7 in depth and would be better served in the AHL, but depending what happens this off-season (trades), I would have no problem with Oliver being #5 or #6 next season. |

Steve Mason was impressive tonight.
It is really cool that Karlsson is back for the playoffs, he is so much fun to watch.
Akeson, what a special moment to play with G and get that goal. Wow.
Hard to be upset when they win, draft picks be damned.
Couts looked a bit lost out there at times tonight, oh well he is going to be beast next year.
Too bad for the Bob Jackets, I was rooting hard for them. |

I give him a chance, sure...but I also don't assume he can handle a 5th defenseman job, either. |

Sure. But he seems to be exceeding third pairing expectations right now. |

The Flyers won 23 out of 48 games. In NO world are they above .500.

Apparently 'Winning Percentage' has been taken over in the NHL by 'Points Percentage'. Whatever makes people feel better, I guess.

Bryz spends too much time on his stomach -- mostly because he's not the most agile/coordinated guy in net and he's not quick enough to get back into the butterfly on second chance shots so he ends up flat along the ice. He gets away with below-average mobility because he's good at filling the net and positions himself aggressively to take the angle away.
Mason plays a lot like Price... he sits much deeper in net, and when he's on his game, it looks like he's barely moving at all because he's so fluid and has such great economy of movement. Mason's explosive side-to-side, too, but has the body control to stop his slide on a dime so he doesn't end up out of position. Physically and technically, he's as close to ideal as you can get. His problems are 99% between the ears. - Tomahawk
I disagree that Bryzgalov has below average mobility. I don't think he's cat quick, but he's not below average. And I think it's real premature to saying that Mason is ideal at anything. Far too short of a sample size. It wasn't just mental that wrecked his game in Columbus.

Dude's got instant chemistry with G and Jake. If we don't give him a roster spot instantly next year, I hope we atleast play him with G and Jake during preseason so they can rethink it. - JAKEw1234
I'd go with giving him a roster spot instantly!

chemistry's not an easy thing to get with most players, and a consistent left winger has been what G and Jake have been lacking all year. Of course they can't give him a roster spot based on 1 game, but Akeson is arguably our top forward prospect in the AHL, they have to give him a shot at the big show sometime. |
