Golly gosh I wish the Flyers didn't suck so bad...

Well said, and I agree.

I somewhat disagree with the "regardless of circumstances" part. If the team as a whole improves and he is still a .900 goalie, then yes. But if the team is just as sucky as it was this year, but he throws up a .910 percentage, I'm not sure I'd let him go, especially since it's nearly a guarantee that the 2014-15 cap will go up.

Bryzgalov's saving grace with me is that when the team plays better, not great but better in front of him, he seems to feed off that and therefore match the effort. He very rarely drags them down when they are in fact playing well.

As for media quibbles, why ask the guy questions if he can't give honest answers? If the players are just gonna read off cue cards, I'd rather not listen to or read what they are told to say.

Question; have you ever or do you now work at a bank? Just curious.

it's just a guess on my part, that he has 1 year to be a vezina caliber goalie, whether the team plays well or not, because of the buy-out option after next season. if he produces another season similar to this...overall solid play, but not consistently elevated, i think they'll dump him and find a cheaper option without the potential personality distraction.

Agreed. Just as he was in mid-season, Bryz is way down on the list of things I think need fixing. By bringing in Mason it seems they shored up the backup goalie position, which was one of my items. It seems that it should now be safe to give Bryz appropriate rest and not have to assume that the game will be a loss.

Exactly. And then when he does give honest answers the beat writers and the rags they work for piss their pants with excitement to write the inflammatory headline.

Speaking of the beat writers, someone on Twitter last night referred to Bill as a beat writer. Ugh. He isn't a beat writer and I do not include him in that group when I speak of them.

You could be right. Time will tell. I just hope they don't do it this year. I think that would be a big mistake.

That's weird I've always kinda considered Bill to be a beat writer but not part of the mainstream group. Guess my definition of beat writers is wrong

Like I tell people, if you want Tmz, go to... Of you want actual hockey analysis on the flyers check out Bill.

I agree. Give the team a chance to get healthy and a full camp to get on the same page defensively... make some additions and additions by subtraction... role with Bryz as #1 and following closely with Mason as the #2. See how things go.

Honestly, I think the personality distraction is a lot made out of little. And it's the Media again making something bigger then it is. I don't think the Flyers care about that. The real potential issue down the road, that wasn't there when they signed the deal in the Luongo rule. And they may not care much about that either. I think it all comes down, as you said, to his level of play.

I could be wrong, too. To me the beat writers are the ones at every game, writing their game summary, going down to the locker room after the game for the quotes, pestering the coach with dumb questions, etc. As far as I know, Bill doesn't do that.

I think they should muzzle Bryz during the season and post-season. Then during locker clean-up day give him the option to go at the reporters. Let him write a Bryz manifesto, a poem to how Philly writers blow.... And let the hype get us through the summer. Basically we stock up on Bryzisms at the end of the season and aren't distracted by them during it...

All joking aside. I agree it's going to come down to how he plays. And the team's play and the system will influence whether or not he's around. Let's see what they learned this season.

You may not be familiar with the rules with alimony and child support.

The dude probably needed the cash to play and made arrangements to play overseas temporarily to pay for that.

That's a far cry to sending the dude to the Western Conference, permanently.

You're right im not an expert in family law but whatever....And where exactly did I say he was going out west. He has a NTC and he doesnt have to go anywhere however if he gets bought out he will have to find a new home anyway so thats that.

My point was, citing going to Germany to play is probably not any sort of a sign post for what Briere may or may not want to do once he is bought or waiving an NTC or anything.

And you're right, he's gone anyway. But Briere going to Germany is not an indication of anything other than maybe he needed the money.

He spends a lot of time in Texas so I don't see how he could be.

Good point, I guess I didn't quite grasp that. But my impression should be a reflection of how he covers the team cause I can't tell if he's there or not. Whereas some others are and it seems as tho they watch a different game than myself.
