Yeah, a healthier, more puck-adept blueline should make a lot of these problems go away, that's for sure. - Tomahawk
Or at least minimize them a bit. I'm sure they'll add a guy or two, but I hope that the team wide attention to defense and puck support remians |

were these tweaks to have 2 players go after the puck when it went behind the goal line?
and also collapsing down in front to leave the points (relatively) wide open?
that is what I saw them doing, not always with the best success - Marc D
The tweak was instead of having one defenseman always in the slot covering the front of the net. And one defensman and the first forward back down low on the puck. Both defensman and the first forward back would be on the puck. With the two other forwards coolapsing down low. |

So the Sabres raise ticket prices and tell fans that Darcy Reiger will stay as GM...and people still want to complain about Holmgren? |

I'm counting on Gustafsson to be in the top 6, but I want to add another capable, mobile guy with some puck skills. - Jsaquella

With this system they seemed vulnerable to teams getting wide open point shots, often with a forward redirecting a tip from the high slot |

I imagine next year, when Braydon Coburn is allowed to be Braydon Coburn and not supposed to try to be Matt Carle, people will think "Where was this guy last year before he got hurt?" - Flyskippy
Coburn will be fine if he is allowed to be Brayden Coburn, which is a solid top 4 defenseman who will give you 20+ minutes a night, kill penalties and chip in 3-4 goals and 17-20 points. Asking any more out of him is just foolish, he is what he is. |

Lol, worth a try
Speaking of the draft lotto, any hope that NBC just piggybacks off TSN's coverage, or are we going to have to suffer through Milbury/Jones draft analysis? |

The point shots shouldn't be wide open. You should get in the shooting lanes and block shots. The slot and areas around the net and the circles are much more dangerous scoring areas then the points are. Flyers have been ubeleivably unlucky with fluke defelections for goals against at times. |

I'm cool with Homer.
He turned the ship around quickly after 2006-2007.
I think they'll be OK this time around too.
Buffalo fans, on the other hand, have every reason to complain. |

Man, ain't that the truth. So Ruff gets canned for coaching the mess that Regier gave him?? Last time I checked it wasn't the coach who signed Leino to 27 million over 6 years. Ruff deserved to canned, but I'm really surprised that Pegula hasn't completely cleaned house. |

I think Regier is on thin ice right now. He gets one more season to prove he deserves to be there which I doubt he can do.... |

Chicago wins it in 5 over Pittsburgh. I HATE Pittsburgh but I don't see anyone in the east beating them if they can get some injured players back in the line-up. But man I want to jinx them so bad! |
