Well, you can take it for what it's worth, but from what I was told, the Flyers were discussed in some very colorful, unflattering terms after the Weber O.S.

Nashville shouldn't have waited that long to sign their star D-man, face of the franchise and captain.

I don't understand why most people get upset when a team offer sheets a player. The Flyers did nothing illegal or outside the rules when they offer sheeted Weber. It is a part of the CBA and they tried to take advantage of it.

Honestly, I wouldn't need someone to tell me that Nashville was pissed about the OS from the Flyers.

In a negotiation, there are two sides. No team can sign a player at will. A player has to agree to a deal. Now if they were lowballing Weber, and that's why they didn''t resign him before July1, then they're at fault. If they were making him fair offers that he declined, then what can you do?

Really a confusing question asking if there is a role for him on this team that makes sense. Of course there is. No such thing as having too many good defenseman. Did this Season not teach you that?

Is there such a thing as allocating 12 million to 3 defenseman who can't play PP?

Flyers have proven it

Yes, there is. Down the stretch, Schenn played on the PP. Coburn has also played on the PP in the past.

I haven't heard anything publicly from Nashville ownership. But I have to beleive that is true. That Nashville is not interested in trading Weber.
- MJL

Ok, this is serious Oliver Stone conspiracy speculation...

Does anyone know if one owner can own two teams - seems to be a conflict of interest.

What if Homer (from orders from Ed S.) threw the Weber deal to bankrupt NAS, only to have Ed buy NAS in the long run... Then, Ed could trade Weber for Shelley and Walker if he wanted - He may even throw in Pronger into the mix, but only in we get Rinne back in the deal???

Hey, it's just business.

Not to mention that Nash already had to pay Weber that huge guaranteed portion of the signing bonus.

The NHL would say no. Before you even tried, they would say no.

Flyers should wait until after July 1 then to trade for him. What do you think the chances are that the Flyers could get Nashville to retain part of his salary in the deal?

I'd ask them to include a draft pick to sweeten the deal.

Y'know, assuming Holmgren hasn't burst into uncontrollable laughter by that point.

If Nashville were to retain salary and then trade Weber, I'm guessing they would want Giroux, Voracek, Couts and the Flyers next 3 first round picks to start the discussion.
