Which depletes the depth of the team. That's the thing, the Flyers farm system is pretty shallow right now, and trading more assets away for one piece, strains that system even more.
I doubt that Meszaros has any value, except as a salary dump. - Jsaquella
I dunno, Mezaros can be a decent, 30 point per season defense man. Seeing as he'll just be hitting his prime around now, I still think he has alittle value left. |

Ha oh ok, I still never said that I wanted Ryan here I think we have an ideal number of RWers, another 2nd line RWer and we'd just have a surplus. |

Or has only been in his prime for a season or 2 at most now |

He's missed 60 games the last two years and has had repeated shoulder injuries.
He has very little value, far better off seeing if he's healthy and hanging onto him than dumping him for a 4th rounder. If he's not healthy, use the LTIR relief |

Would you guys trade #11 and a 3rd for #19 and #23 from Columbus? |

Damn when the Hawks get their legs moving and gallop they are fun to watch.
Smart, aggressive, and hard to play against. |

If only they had Doug Murray they'd be a lock for the Cup. |

Maybe not actually. The best place to be in the 2003 draft was in the top 10. There was amazing talent outside of the top 10 but teams were less likely to get that next big player. I'd like to see them trade up personally. |

TWIW, but I thought on the surface this was an interesting proposed draft choice points chart. It puts your deal at relatively even, slight advantage for Columbus.

I'm going off the general consensus among most scouts and reports that the draft has a drop off after 35 or so, in terms of quality. |

Bad trade for C-Bus. They should be getting the 2nd rounder, not the 3rd in that deal. |

It all depends on who they may want they can honestly play around with 1 of the 3 picks they have in round 1. I wouldn't but if they strongly believe the player they may want at #11 is worth it they'll make every effort to get a deal done. |

I wouldn't trade down 8 slots to only move up 18 slots on the second pick. |

Fair enough. I dont think Columbus trades an extra first rounder to only move up 8 spots and only get a third to make up 23rd pick. |

That's the annoying part of the strong finish. Sure the 1st rd pick dropped 6 spots, but so did the 2nd rounder which was looking sweet at 34-35. It's a double whammy.

There is drop off from the better end talent in that 35 range but I personally think you can still find good players but it will require patience in letting them develop. |

If I'm the Flyers and there are 3 or 4 players I have rated closely I trade down and try and get another high 2nd or 3rd rounder. if they trade 1-3 spots for a high 3rd they can get themselves back into the top 35 for their 2nd pick. Fun times ahead! |

I better get more then a high 3rd round pick to trade down.

if you trade down 3 slots you can't expect more than a high 3rd. I'll take a high 2nd, but that's not really realistic. I also wouldn't do it if there weren't 3 comparable players I wanted on the board.

Why not? A team wanting to do that obviously covets a player. I'd get at least a 2nd to do so.
