Congress favors it because the rule benefits the local economy (in theory). The idea is they want you watching the local commercials so you'll (supposedly) spend more.

I'm fine with that, but when your supposed to get certain programming and it gets blocked, due to competition between providers, too many people lose. I have an issue with MSG owning the Rangers and having too much sway on what games are broadcasted in a given area. I can't see why we have to have almost all Sabres and Rangers games, but are restricted on Devils and Islanders games. All of the New York area teams should be treated equally. My Directv sub is just north of Syracuse, NY, and we're far from all the teams concerned.

On my Canadian sub, I'm in a region that gives me Leafs/Sens/Habs and there is no restrictions in my area. So why is it different in NY state?

Good luck against Pittsburgh. I'll take a look between commercials in the Leafs/Bruins game. Do well Islanders, you have a history of knocking off great Penguins teams. It would be epic to see it happen again.

Wouldn't mind the Yes channel either. The issue becomes do they have spill over channels when the multiple teams are playing at the same time.

I live in Delaware and get blacked out on 100°/° of Flyers games with Directv. Why? The Flyers owner is a majority shareholder of comcast and owns the local comcast channel... Yet somehow monopoly rules don't apply

You think that's bad, I used to live in Northampton County, PA- for the baseball package, I was blacked out for Philly, Pittsburgh AND Baltimore. Pittsburgh was farther away from my house than Boston. My argument always was this- if you put YOUR commercials on for the feed, then you're making your money anyway- it's not like I'm not going to have some kind of regular TV package simply because I bought the sports feed for the computer. This country is a backwater when it comes to TV, internet and phone service, and it's because every company is more interested in squeezing every last dime out of the deal rather than providing content.

Contract...for many years....for lots of money....doesn't matter which channel it's on. The Dolans will be paying for all of their players and half of ours for many years to come. Besides, the fans who should really be pi$$ed are the rag$ fans- they're the ones who get dumped on MSG Plus every time the Knicks play. God invented the basketball court for one reason- to keep pigeon sh*t off the ice. That's about the only thing it's good for. I'd rather watch dog dirt harden than spend five minutes watching that cr*p.

This team is going to have to come out swinging tonight, or else. If they play the way they played for the first two periods in Buffalo, they'll be down 5-0, by the beginning of the third. I just hope this coach is impressing the idea upon them that they need to kick it up ten or fifteen notches this evening. Time to put the big boy pants on.
