They aren't even sure Harding can play in two days because he's under going intense treatments for his MS. They leave him exhausted. There's been some talk their minor league goalie, whose name I forget, may have to start. - mayorofangrytown
Oh, that sucks. Really sucks.
I haven't searched it out, any word on Backstrom? |

They barely won game 1 vs the Wild. It's wide open.
I'll be surprised if Pitt and Chi make it to the SCF. - phillydentist
It's the playoffs, the games are supposed to be tight. And a Goalie playing at a high level in a game, can keep it close. Not sure why you'd be suprised to see the two best teams make it to the Finals. Although I do agree it's wide open. It always is. |

Anyone think this trade seems plausible?:
Let St.Louis resign Piet. Then he has a lower salary and possibly easier to get rid of if need be. Then we trade for Piet, in return sending Coots, Read, Mez, and 2 1st rounders their way. I believe this to be doable because St.Louis has been looking for that forward, and all teams want Coots. Read would with out a doubt be dynamite for their offensive depth, and Mez would fill a hole if he stays healthy. Next, have a 1 on 1 talk with Akeson. Tell him if he works his butt off this offseason on A) Skating B) Upper body strength, and if they assess him to to be able to compete in those fields in training camp, they'll offer him a roster spot. I know it was 1 game but he is known to have a good shot, superior playmaking/finesse , and awesome vision of the ice, as well as great insta chemistry with G and Jake. If he works on his skating and strength then more power to him. Our roster would be:
Akeson/Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Hartnell/Gagne - Schenn - Simmonds
Gagne/Akeson - Talbot - Rinaldo
McGinn - Laughton - Rosehill
UFA/Hall
Timonen - Pietrangelo
Schenn - Coburn
Gustafsson - Grossmann
Mason/Bryzgalov(or UFA)
Anyone else think this is at all a plausible scenario? |

The team decided to return to Minnesota because of the two day break so anything that may have come out quickly has been delayed by travel. I'd expect something later today. |

No, I don't think it's plausible. St. Louis is not trading Pietrangelo. |

But their defense would still be amazing without Pietrangelo, and this trade greatly adresses one of their weaknesses. |

How often do the two "best" teams, and in this case you mean the teams with the most regular season pts, meet in the SCF? Off the top of my head, not often at all. |

If it was B Schenn instead of Read or Coburn instead of Mez, they might jump....
I'd probably do the trade you suggested which means they never would, lmao.... |

Still very possible for it to happen. Both teams could make the Finals, and I wouldn't be surprised. Wouldn't be surprised if neither did. That's the beauty of the NHL playoffs. |

I thought the beauty of the play-offs was the speed, skill, smell of desperation, and the blood on the ice...

Not debating if it's possible or not. Of course it's possible. Because it's wide open, I will be surprised if the top 2 seeds meet in the SCF. |

Let's back up a minute.
Who is actually arguing that Chicago and Pittsburgh will meet in the Finals? I know I didn't say that. I did say I think Chicago is gonna win it. Feel free to argue that.
But on this whole "top seeds meeting in the Finals" thing, I feel like you're arguing with yourself.
If that's your intent, then carry on. |

I wouldn't know. I can't afford play-off tickets... So we tend to just throw parties at the house when they play. Hi-Def, lots of great food, booze, no traffic, and clean bathroom. I can't complain.
I do miss the energy level, the roar of the crowd... But there are trade-offs... |

Bill -- out of curiosity, what makes Grossmann one of the physically strongest defensemen in the league? Does he have an impressive bench press? Does he squat a house? Or just general observation? |

Kevin Smith has a huge, public crush on the Edmonton Oilers franchise based on his mancrush on Wayne Gretzky and the "Boys on the Bus" doc. So, the Oil logo is definitely appropriate (to the chagrin of Devils fans, who claim Kevin Smith as their own....Kevin commits hockey polyamory when it comes to favorite teams).
In Flyers lore, Silent Bob will always be Robert Esche. |

I didn't care. The flyers I guarantee were happy to see someone on the ice exhibiting a pulse - Just5
My coach always says he rather see penalties due to being over zealous than a player being under aggressive because you can always work to teach the player to be more disciplined |
