I heard this once in a dream. Then I woke up. It's good to know you might be a good dance partner with us, as long as Homer doesn't T off another GM... |

Tough one for me. I'm a huge Read fan. I like everything he does. Reminds me a bit of RJ Umberger who I also enjoyed watching play for us.
I think I might have to do it though. Would be bad for Dekeyser though since he had his pick of teams made his choice and then he doesn't even get a full season before getting traded. - mayorofangrytown
Fascinating. Yeah hate to have him demoralized before he even got here. But we'd do it anyway
I'm sure he can cry into his pile of money. One thing Philly will do for you is show you the money if they want you to stay... |

ok... totally going off the deep end here, but what do you guys think of a trade like this...
This is just an idea... tinker and toy with it how ever you want.
Our first and Simmonds for Carolina's 1st and Faulk? - jak521

I have an interesting question that I was only wondering about, not actually thinking about as a realisitc fix for the Flyer
I realized that I don't think anyone has ever traded out of the 1st overall position before, and the avalanche certainly wouldn't this year. As an example of the value of a 1st overall, and assuming Colorado was even taking an offer for such a valuable piece, what pieces now, that the Flyers have, would it take to get the 1st overall? This should be ontop of our 1st rounder for this year. Again this isn't realistic, this isn't even a suggestion, just me wondering the true value of a 1st overall. So here's the theoretical trade board:
Colorado:
1st Round Draft Pick (2013)
Philadelphia:
1st Round Draft Pick (2013)
If any of you could please fill out our side of the trade on what would realistically land the 1st overall (Again, assuming Colorado is even taking offers. I don't know why they would trade away a pick from a draft they rigged but whatever this is only a theoretical and could apply for any year not just this one). Please also dont just say 1st rounder plus Giroux, I'd like to get some serious thoughts on this |

It's happened several times, the last being when the Sedins were taken (it was traded 2x that year).
Also, for that #1, say goodbye to both Schenns and Couturier, plus your next 2 seconds. |

No doubt.. but I was aiming more for the idea of trying to work to both teams needs. Flyers need a puck mover, Canes need desperate help on O. |

Agreed. The price for trading for the Number one spot is pretty steep. We'd be better off waiting a year or two and trading for Jones after he's had his first struggles. And even that would be ridicules. |

Is it really that much iyo? I mean Schenn and Couturier are both potential 1st liners (high end), Luke schenn (With the way he's been developing recently) is a future top 2 d man, and an 11th overall is pretty huge value wise also. While Jones will undoubtedly be a franchise defenseman, don't you think that 2 1st liners, a top 2 dman, and what is sure to picked as atleast a top 4 dman or 2nd line forward, and 2 4th-3rd line players (2 3rd round picks) isn't at all excessive for an elite dman? Let me put that into modern terms. Last season (2011-2012), that would be near equivalent (value-wise) to LA trading Kopitar, Williams, Voynov, Jack Johnson, Penner, and Stoll to STL for Pietrangelo. Not even alittle excessive you think? |

im sorry guys...but i find it very hard to believe that Homer is not gonna go for a big trade during the offseason...especially since he struck out last year...
somethings gotta give...and its gonna be a name that hasn't been mentioned in this blog...
plug regarding the craig button thing...ive never heard any associations with button and the flyers...so i doubt he has some 'inside sources'... |

If the name hasn't been mentioned in the blog or the thread then that player doesn't exist. I think all assets have been traded in here. ALL OF THEM. |
