If the name hasn't been mentioned in the blog or the thread then that player doesn't exist. I think all assets have been traded in here. ALL OF THEM. - mayorofangrytown

Is it really that much iyo? I mean Schenn and Couturier are both potential 1st liners (high end), Luke schenn (With the way he's been developing recently) is a future top 2 d man, and an 11th overall is pretty huge value wise also. While Jones will undoubtedly be a franchise defenseman, don't you think that 2 1st liners, a top 2 dman, and what is sure to picked as atleast a top 4 dman or 2nd line forward, and 2 4th-3rd line players (2 3rd round picks) isn't at all excessive for an elite dman? Let me put that into modern terms. Last season (2011-2012), that would be near equivalent (value-wise) to LA trading Kopitar, Williams, Voynov, Jack Johnson, Penner, and Stoll to STL for Pietrangelo. Not even alittle excessive you think? - JAKEw1234
Yes, it would be that much. It's not so much the player as the allure of the 1st overall pick. Schenn and Couturier project as 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd liners. Schenn on a deep team is a #3/4 right now. For a guy who could potentially be a true #1 dman for the next 15 years, you're going to have to give. On top of that, Colorado has no issue with keeping it, so the deal would have to blow them completely away. That's why the price would be so ridiculous. |

Wasn't there a waiver issue with him? I remember there was some reason he wasn't playing in either league (after his injury). |

Don't know of any waiver issue that would keep a player from playing in either the NHL or AHL.

Do you view Chris Bigras or Madison Bowey as possible 2nd rounders to the list you have posted? - ob18
Yes, particularly Bowey.

plug regarding the craig button thing...ive never heard any associations with button and the flyers...so i doubt he has some 'inside sources'... - sarmen25
Considering that he was hired by Bob Clarke as his scouting director in Minnesota, is a former NHL GM and works for TSN, I would be more surprised if he didn't maintain some scouting contacts in the Flyers' organization. That said, I suspect it was more Button's fondness for the player and projecting him as Flyers-type player rather than a direct tip-off on how the Flyers might be leaning.

http://www.hockeysfuture..../prospects/jake_gardiner/
He looks just like an identical, slighty smaller, offensive version of Luke Schenn.
As in, Gardiner looks like he can succeed offensively to the same tier that Schenn competes defensively, and he can compete defensively in the same tier that Schenn competes offensively. Seeing as they're also opposite hands, within a year age-wise, same height (Schenn is heavier), and a few more similarities, I'd say these guys would compliment each other almost perfectly. He's obtainable realistically, and if Gardiner can reach or surpass his potential as Schenn is on a pace to surpass his, these guys would be an extremely frightening pair. Good idea man, that might be the smartest idea that's been proposed here yet.

In this video it sounds like he "really" likes Morin from the recent Under 18 event.

in the 2nd round they could face a tough call with a pick from all positions especially goalie. |

How to tell he's a total stay-at-home defenseman: One of the highlight clips (0:54) is a dump-in from the red line . - bmeltzer
Kind of not exactly what we could use at the moment. |

Bill, other than the Avs with Jones do you think any teams are likely to draft a D man ahead of us?
Personally I think the Oilers will go D but other than them I see a big run on forwards in the top 10. Maybe Dallas could go D? Just too much depth at Center at the top of this draft to pass up. I sure hope Pulock is the best player available when we pick. |

I'd still swing for the fences and take Nurse if he's there. From what I heard he's a sure fire NHL talent and if his current upward swing in development continues he could be a monster of a defenseman.
This is all from what I've heard around Canadian radio interviews because of course I have no sources and haven't seen him play once so take that for what it's worth. |

IMO opinion we already have a Nurse type player developing with Schenn. I woud really like to see us draft a future puck moving offensive threat to pair with Schenn as our top line of the future. I really think Pulock could be that guy. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Offseason Defense Planning, Defensemen in 2013 Draft - bmeltzer
Good read, lots of information to process.
I do like how you stress that there's a lot of options, not only in the draft, but also in making a move to address the defense in the immediate future. I think a lot of folk get locked into one guy and ignore viable options that will cost less or maybe even be better in the long run.
I do agree with most of your thoughts, although I like Zadorov more than you do. That said, he'd be a guy I'd prefer landing if they were to move down a few picks. I agree with you that Pulock would be my second defenseman, behind Nurse. I love his hockey IQ.
It'll be interesting if we see a run on defensemen and maybe a forward like Elias Lindholm or Hunter Shinkaruk drop to 11...also wonder if Valeri Nichushkin slides after his deal with the KHL and the report that he would like t be a Flyer or Ranger.
Gotta think if a guy with that much talent is there at 11, it's a no brainer. |

I don't think Luke Schenn and Nurse are the same player. And there's little doubt he can move the puck. He may be still developing those skills but one scout said in an interview that every time they saw him this year he showed marked improvement in every skill they thought he was weak on.
I'll take big and skilled all day.
I can't effectively argue my point when I admittedly have no first hand knowledge just what I heard. It would be silly for me to try to use what I heard to dissuade anyone from their opinion. I've heard very little about Pulock being a top ten pick except here. |

I'm at a loss for words over that situation. I still can't figure out what's going on with him and that organization. Granted, with their injuries, it sounds like he will suit up for game 2. |

With the way defense has been hoarded the last 5 years it wouldn't surprise me if four are off the board in the top ten. I wonder how much consideration they're giving to moving up and what it's going to cost to get where they're going? |
