BTW Potvin, not sure if you saw the kencan meltdown over the last couple of days but it came to an interesting head yesterday which landed him with a 7 game (day) suspension. Some of his internet past was presented to him, which he didn't appreciate. - keaner17
Yeah, I was lurking a bit. I'm surprised a guy with a paper trail miles long decides to come onto this site and antagonize basically everyone.
We all know, well....at least I do, that he's a Pens fan anyway, maybe a bandwagon (childhood) Isles fan on the side. But...don't care. I'm not young enough or have the stomach to get into an Internet war with people. Once he started challenging people to fight him...whoo boy. |

From Newsday:
Capuano reviewed the game tape and tried to put a better spin on it, saying: "It wasn't as bad as I first thought it was." - UIF
Sounds a lot like Connie Moreau:
"We only lost by five. We almost scored a goal too." |

Holy poop! Ducks rallied to tie last night? It was 4-1 in the 3rd, I went to sleep thinking it was over. Too bad Anaheim couldn't finish them off. - potvin05
that game was out of control!!!
i was also about to go to bed...then they scored...and then again...too bad they lost.

One bad game, I wouldn't do it.
I don't know if I would throw Nelson out there, untested, but it worked out good for the Rags and Kreider last year's playoffs.
You know Boyes ain't coming off that first line. I don't see much of a change coming other than Joensuu for Reasoner. I'm praying Wednesday night's game was like a bucket of cold water thrown in their collective faces. Frankly, I'd still like to see Capuano fired in the offseason and a more seasoned coach step in, like a Ruff-type, but we all know that ain't gonna happen, because the playoff berth cemented another year here for him. - potvin05
I've wanted Amac out of the lineup all year. Nothing against the kid, he's an Islander thru and thru but he has no business being on a playoff roster. He's simply too undertalented in every necessary facet of the game to be filling a top pairing role. I think Martinek is miles ahead of him in terms of overall game. While I think Amac is a better dman than Carkner, we desperately need Carkner's size and toughness in this series. He should be out there chopping the crap out of Malkin's ankles rather than watching Amac getting thrown off like a Squirt playing in Bantams.
Nelson's size and ability makes him an immediate upgrade on both Aucoin and Reasoner, whereas Cizikas NEEDS to be centering Martin and McDonald.
I realize none of this will happen, and you're right, Boyes is cemented on the top line until next year. That said, I think that lineup gives us a better shot against them. |

Ken would have loved that. He loves Ryan.
I still don't get, other than maybe a God complex, why he'd feel the need to come into a blog FILLED with people who have destroyed the Isles, Wang, Snow, the ushers, the bloggers, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING involved with the Isles over the past 6 years and tell us we're homers and idiots.
Eh, it's because he's a Pens fan.

Gotta go to work, but I still think the AMac-Hamonic pairing is an effective one.
I'm also praying that we haven't peaked this season. *fingers crossed* |

Well, I was being totally truthful with him by saying I think he's a passive aggressive OCD. It's funny that he never responded to that assertion despite my saying in multiple times to him. He apparently was Pm-ing Captain challenging him to meet somewhere. Now I don't know Captain personally but I've seen Kencan on his videos, the kid is rather 'twiggy'.
Either way, it was a predictable result. I told cpt about an hour before that the kid was on the verge of a meltdown and would be banned soon...sure enough.
The Sugardaddy profile was hilarious though |

Funny enough, I didn't see that. Getting banned from blogs and message boards seems to be a reoccurring theme for him. |

Ok so I was on that sports yapper thing last night and man talk about out of control. Ranger fans blowing up the Islanders. Islander fans blowing up the Rangers it was entertaining.
Anyway YES PLEASE SIT AMAC. The guy is atrocious. I don't know he gets worse and worse when I See him.I say put in MArtinek and Carkner. Carkner has been in the dance before and we can use some physical presence. As for MArtinek he is a veteran who has played the Pens a million times. I say what do you have to lose. |

While the Islanders and Rangers are separated by one point, and they just lost to the Capitals 3 - 1, the Penguins have 22 more points than the Isles.
Are we still counting? |

As I highlighted last night, Reasoners presence changes the entire make up of the team. Not just because of his (lack of) performance, but the fact that it adds another non physical center to the mix. We can't run both Aucoin and Reasoner out there and expect that our team can play a physical aggressive game. If I'm running the lineup today, I'd send something like this:
Moulson Tavares Grabner
Bailey Nielsen Okposo
Martin Cizikas McDonald
Joensuu NELSON Boyes
Hamonic Visnovsky
Streit Hickey
Carkner Martinek
I realize Nelson has no NHL experience but overall I want his size and toughness up the middle to force Pittsburgh to contend with in the front while Joensuu bangs in the corners. I'd entertain the idea of Strome for Boyes but obvisously that won't happen. This gives us a pretty tough and big lineup capable of skating and irritating the Pens. On defense, we have a shutdown pairing. The Carkner/Martinek pairing gives us size and toughness while Raddy offers defensive reliability to make up for Carkner's shortcomings.
This won't happen, but I think this lineupe would be far more effective in a series like this. - keaner17
nelson is not a physical presence yet...he will be..not yet though |

Carkner being in tonight is inevitable, I just hope he doesn’t cost us with his general slowness. I would hope that we see Martinek. Strait was brutal and has been since his return. Gotta sit him, the penalty he took in the beginning of the first period on Wednesday was pointless. If we take penalties like that against Pitt, we are going to get burned every time.
Isles PP must step up as well. It’s been floundering like crazy over the past 5-10 games.

He may not be noteworthy on his own, but I'm willing to bet he's more physical than Reasoner or Aucoin...in addition, he's big enough to fight through checks a bit more. |
