I agree, I'm thinking more in terms of Giroux, though. I think he'll be signed with time to spare. - BulliesPhan87
Gotcha. I didn't follow that. But now I see where you were going.

Yea, we know that from the Weber OS. But as has been said previously. I think going to route with St' Louis would be a waste of time. - MJL
How do you know they haven't been trying? - MJL
Firstly, true they could've been trying this whole time. I don't think it'll be a waste of time as much as it'll sever trade relationships. If it fails and we decide we'd like Shattenkirk, well his price just coincidentally skyrocketed. Also, what goes around comes around. I'm sure teams would start offering contracts to our RFAs if we made a habit out of doing it to other teams. |

Well my concern is, when does the 10M boost in cap ceiling kick in, next offseason? If we're right at the cap limit, can we sign a new big contact, or do we have to wait? I know theoretically Pittsburgh is something like 8 mil over the ceiling now so maybe it's allowed in some instances? |

Actually it's the opposite. Pittsburgh has almost 8M in Cap space as of now for next Season. The 10M off season exemption starts July 1.

You better believe there are no cap complications with signing Giroux. If they need cap space, they will do what it takes to clear some. |

Cap space isn't an issue to sign Giroux to a new deal. |

While we have the cap expert on the line: I know next season the cap is going down, but then is expected to rise in following seasons. Do we know the specifics on how that cap increase per year will be calculated under the new CBA?
EDIT: nevermind, found it:
- The basics of how the cap and floor will be calculated is that they will be 15 per cent above and 15 per cent below the midpoint. I’ve written in the past about calculating the midpoint, and according to Bill Daly, the new CBA keeps the same formula.

Ed Snider's eyes light up when he hears the cap could reach 90M

Ya I wouldn't worry about it. The way most people see this off season going down leaves the Flyers with 3M to 4M or more. Ontop of Giroux's current salary and we'll have plenty of cap for that. |

Cap space this off season doesn't matter in terms of re-signing Giroux to a new deal.

Wel I was meaning if they opted to resign him during next season instead of waiting for the offseason |
|
|

Trade him. I don't know how else to get the money off in capgeek. No buyout for mez - Just5

Also, since every idea I propose is "unrealistic", what would you like to see the Flyers do this off season in terms of trades and acquisitions? |

I seriously doubt that the Flyers will let Giroux reach RFA status.

I'd like to see the Flyers improve the defense. And add some toughness to the forward lineup.

San Jose is running wild over Vancouver.
Canucks have needed changes for a while now. Their D is pretty solid, but the forwards are soft as hell.
Torres is having a great series. |

How an organization can continue to put a large part of its playoffs hopes on those two is stupid.
Gillis has made some solid deals, and contracts for his D but the sedins need to go. The goaltending in Vancouver is just fine, but who on that top 9 can you expect to consistently win a board battle other than Kesler.

Dude the Sedins are pretty filthy. Yeah you can't expect them to wn board battles, but those two go as VanCity goes, they don't have any other pure skill guys. |
