I think it is becoming very obvious Okposo was out of shape early in the season.

Weber, IMO, is the best defenseman in the league, and Rinne is the second best goalie. I'd easily pay Niederreiter, Reinhart, and one of the other lesser prospects, plus say maybe Moulson, AND a couple of draft picks for that, without thinking twice about it. This isn't trading a beast on the back end, and the chance to draft a highly rated young player, for a player everyone (EVERYONE, except Dinglebury) knows is a malcontented loser who only cares about how much money he is making. This isn't making a pi$$ poor trade to downgrade my goaltending, and add the worst piece of cr*p I've ever seen on skates (I actually saw someone on Sunday sporting the #12, "Russian Short Bus riding scarecrow" sweater....it takes ba11s to admit you actually bought that by wearing it in public). Completely different scenario. THIS would likely make us a contender next year, even if we did nothing else. As long as we keep one of Strome or Niederreiter for the first line with Tavares (preferably Strome, IMO), we'll be fine up front.

Edit: The difference between this team and that one is that with that one "emptying the stable" meant moving the last of what little prospects we had left. Milbury took a young team that never got that two or three years to learn and grow together and dismantled it to "make the playoffs". A lot of this version's prospects are already developed and playing in the NHL, and this already IS a playoff team. I'm talking about moving maybe ONE player off this roster to make us a REAL contender. Completely different, like I said.

But what you JUST typed in no way "in fact, I'd empty the stable" Empties the stable.
not only does moving 2 or 3 prospects not empty the stable, nore does it get you your best D-men in the league & your second best goalie.

These guys are stepping up in the playoffs I'd have a hard time trading either of them. Still can't believe I'm saying this about okposo. Bailey I never wanted gone, I had faith he'd get it together. Okposo is another story I wrote him off, not going to lie.

ohh im right there with ya, I was at wits end with KO a few WEEKS ago. The corner work has always been there, but his lazy 1 hand on the stick & dropping the stick routine, his constant falling down, he just seemed uninterested, like the game was keeping him from something else.

His work ethic was deplorable. You can't trade these guys the way they're performing and he won't except of course if there's some kind of contract dispute? We all know who needs to go in the offseason and who needs to stay. Some of those holes will be filled by our prospects the rest will be filled by plugs. There isn't much room to begin with up front the back end will prob have a few new faces. Except maybe a new tender I'm not expecting much.

I'm never, ever the one on here to shout "trade x, y, and z for player a" but I really hope that we flip our first round pick in a package for Bernier at the draft.
