I'm not going to blame Crawford for the loss - but, a 'money' goaltender doesn't allow that goal early in OT. He finds a way to freeze it, do whatever it takes to keep his team alive.
I also saw Luongo give up the game tying goal in Game 2 on a puck he thought he had covered in the last minute of the game. Boom, lose in OT, series over.
Bettman's NHL stats kept by a bunch of stat geeks who never played the game are meaningless to me, I don't give a crap if the save % is .950 or .825 - Battlin Billy Smith or Tim Thomas or Grant Fuhr or Dominic Hasek wouldn't have given up that goal because they were money goaltenders. And the teams in front of them knew that. - RickJ

Hiller gives up a SOFTIE in OT. What a bum - CBHawks88
Um, it was a rebound . He stopped the 1st one.
All I want is for Crawdaddy to stop the 1st shot on each rush in OT . |

At least it was point blank and not from the corner/goal line and Bogie...Crow is 3 W and 4 L in o/t...7 of last 9 gone to o/t and 3 of those o/t goals that beat us were shots that SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED. Apologize all you want for 50....but 3 softies in the last 9 playoff games to LOSE games. #FACT - philco28
My problem is with the games going to OT to begin with. These last 2 years the hawks were the better team and should beat these teams in regulation. |

incorrect phil...gmes 6 and 7 of the nuck series 2 years ago were OT games: G6 hwks won and G7 (who can forget) the nucks won...he is 4-5 in OT gmes. and I don't need to apologize or defend anybody...
the two vs phx last year were poorly played by him but that was last yr, its over; he had a grt yr with very few "bad" goals, and when he has he bounced back very well...and the vs minny last gme was not all on HIM...he was playing where he should be with the puck play behind the net...
you guys hold him to a standard that is impossible to perform up to....look at every damn gm and every damn goalie...YOUR criteria of softies probably define half the damn goals scored in these playoffs...
As I stated earlier Quick has coughed up to softies in OT and with 40 sec left in the 3rd that resulted in 2 losses. He has 2/3 of craws soft goals losses in 3 gmes...but he gets a pass |

Conn Smythe .945 save percentage. Crawford is not in his league. Toews needs to play better, but I'm not going to say he's the same as Tyler Seguin just because they both have zero points so far |

Not sure in get what you are saying. And I am not biatching about anything. When our top dollar guys who by the way are paid to produce... Don't ... Our chances of winning aren't so good. I am more concerned about what Toews Hossa Kane Seabrook Keith and Sharp do than Crawford. If our skill guys produce... We are near unbeatable. I am not very concerned about the Wild. We play this way against the Sharks... We will be golfing early as well. - ilinkhawk
Wasn't trying to comment on your post as it was part of what I was trying to say. Some people on here expe t a 6 mil goalie performance on a 2.6 mil salary. The Hawks refuse to pay big money since the Huet deal.I expect the odd soft goal but I also expect the guys making the big money to step up to overcome them.CC played good enough to win, almost no one else did. |

Exactly; the higher paid skills guys who aren't doing squat get a free pass.. There is no excuse why that game should have even went to OT. It seems after the Hawks scored the first goal; they went to sleep... and went.. O we got this no reason to try.. |

Hard to overcome it when it happens in overtime. |

This is true, but if the big boys show up it doesn't get to overtime. |

I'm not looking to cast blame: I don't care about the past except as it is prologue to the future.
Crawford has given up 3 soft OT goals in the past two play-offs - what does that mean about future overtime games?
It means he remains suspect and Blackhawk prospects remain suspect when Crawford is in goal at critical times in games.
Shouldn't have gotten to overtime? Yeah, probably, maybe - but once it did, your goalie has to make sure that weak shots don't cost games. |

I'm sure you've heard the disclaimer that goes something like "past results are no guarantee of future performance."
Should have been written for hockey goalies and it applies to Crawford (or any other goaltender) - he could stop 5 breakaways in OT and then let a bouncer from center ice get past him.
Happen to see the couple of weak ones that got past King Henrik last night? It happens. Team sucked it up and eventually won the game. Hawks need to do that tonight. |

I said "suspect" - not "doomed".
But even in your case - Hawks lose the game (you said OT).
King Henrik - weak goals early in the game can be overcome - in OT, not so much.
Again, I think Crawford is suspect - doesn't mean it will happen again, but past results say it's more likely with him than maybe some others.

Well if that's the case, appears to me that Q has no choice before every game but to walk into the dressing room and say ' Guys, we can't let this game get to overtime. We don't have a goaltender that can handle it, he folds up like a cheap accordion......... Oh by the way, maybe you f$ckers who are sucking up most of our cap space should consider showing up and doing something out there to help out. You know, something like scoring on a power play chance." |
