Bertuzzi II.
Intent to injure. Using your stick as a weapon. If he isn't suspended (or expelled) from the league, then anything should go. No reason to have refs or Shannascam in the league. - powerenforcer
Agreed. Who is that, a Sedin? |

I'm not going to blame Crawford for the loss - but, a 'money' goaltender doesn't allow that goal early in OT. He finds a way to freeze it, do whatever it takes to keep his team alive.
I also saw Luongo give up the game tying goal in Game 2 on a puck he thought he had covered in the last minute of the game. Boom, lose in OT, series over.
Bettman's NHL stats kept by a bunch of stat geeks who never played the game are meaningless to me, I don't give a crap if the save % is .950 or .825 - Battlin Billy Smith or Tim Thomas or Grant Fuhr or Dominic Hasek wouldn't have given up that goal because they were money goaltenders. And the teams in front of them knew that. - RickJ
An average goaltender shouldn't either...that save should have been the easiest one of the night, from that angle there was literally ony 2 inches of the net that needed to be covered. |

They called it when Frolik got "Shea Webered"...if it happened to Shaw too, I missed it. |

I'll help you out, 2 OT game winners in round 1 last year, 1 OT game winner yesterday. The guy with the Indianhead on his sweater.
Stupid to put it all on him. But he has a bad habit of bad goals at bad times and it is undeniable. Maybe he can change it. I'd say he needs to because there will probably be more OT games . . . - John Jaeckel
I do agree it is "stupid" to put it all on him.
Craw is 4-5 in play off OT over the last 3 seasons...my guess is the 5 goals the hwks scored were all viewed as bad goals at bad times by the losers.
How about Lundquist having his 5 hole ripped on relatively soft shot from Green to lose 1-0; bad goal at a bad time.
How about Mr Con Smythe Quick playing the puck like a grenade and coughing it for an empty net OT winner: bad goal at a bad time or him allowing that top notch sniper jackman to beat him at the end of the third.
And on and on it goes.... |

The NHL great experts I hear like EJ Radek and a few others all say the Hawks can play any game their opponent wants to play. I'm not so sure of that but definitely agree on the half court game. Dump the puck in, make the Wild D turn and play as much as possible in their own zone along the boards pursuing Hoss and Stalberg and Kane - guys that can hold onto the puck.
Playoff hockey isn't about highlight reel goals - its about wearing down the opponent any way you can.
Would rather see Handzus kept to about 12-14 minutes and specialty work, I don't think he's got the stamina for more than that. - RickJ
>Agree
>Combine a super-fast pace, with some killer cycling AND a punishing dump and chase
>I said earlier today that the Hawks need to do a healthy amount of dump-ins into Suter's corner -- especially diagonal ones so that a Hawk forward at full speed can pound him
>Suter should be getting hit at every opportunity |

Falk couldn't make that same shot more than 5% of the time, if so he could score about 400 goals in his career.

What the Wild are doing well is forcing the Hawks out to the perimeter. Even during the stretches—especially in the first period—where the Hawks dominated, they moved the puck around the perimeter, got off one good shot with zero net presence or follow up, and Minnesota cleared the zone. - John Jaeckel
Good analysis, John. I thought the same thing during a couple of stretches, especially right before the tying goal. The Blackhawks had a long period of possession in the offensive zone. Typically, I expect the Wild to get running around in those times, but it looked like they were almost content to let Chicago pass the puck around the perimeter. |

When Crawford has a 946 SV% and wins a Conn Smythe, then we can talk. Quick's team has 3 goals in 3 games and his SV% is 960. If we had Quick we wouldn't have lost a game |

One thing I guarantee you Carcillo will do is become a distraction for Clutterbuck, Veileux and some of the others,. Say what you want about Carcillo. He has been here before.
I also think Carcillo-Toews-Hossa and more of a dump, chase and bang "half-zone" offense could wear Suter and (especially) Brodin down big time.
Or go Sharp-Toews-Kane (as they did yesterday) and try Carcillo-Handzus-Hossa to grind em down and get a greasy goal. - John Jaeckel
Yes please. Toews is a streaky goal scorer, they just need to get him one and I expect 19 to get back to full marks. The Carcillo-Handzus-Hossa line is a big no from me. Handzus has been terrible everywhere in this series, I'd much rather see Kruger there. If it were up to me:
Sharp-Toews-Kane
Carcillo-Kruger-Hossa
Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg
Saad-Handzus-Frolik |

I also read somewhere today that Bieksa has been on the ice for Vancouver's last 5 even strength goals against.
Bieksellent. - MartiniMan
There's a reason the Nucks are regarded as the dirtiest cheapest team in the league. Love AV's comment 'we're the embellishers' yeah no kidding. Dirty and whiny to the end. Gillis called a presser to say they were handing out passifiers to all of the nuck players.
Meanwhile any word on Bolland for tomorrow night...they need him now...just like in the Canuck series two years ago...
Hayes would be a nice add too if he actually hits somebody...put the Carbomb in as well would love to see him up with Hossa and Toews. |

A stick to the head is just a hockey play...everyone knows that. - DarthKane
It is the head thrown back which lacks integrity.
That is the Nuck mind set. |

I am trying to figure which goal was soft.
Are you talking about Fleury?
Carey Price?
Luongo?
I am sure every fan of any team's goalie wishes he wassix foot five and able to butterfly and paddle down low and still be giant enough to reach the top side and be quick enough to snare all high ones.
I haven't watched every minute of every playoff game (but a lot) but I certainly have seen many goals go in and the job done across the board by all goalies is good, but these player scoring just seem to find ways to still score, just like they have through the entire history of the sport.
The hawk board comments about the Wild team not competing proves that going home, having that face-off advantage and nothing to lose by throwing yourself into the action... does get the team that is down going….similar to when the hawks went on the streak…it begins and becomes a underlying reason to give the effort 'til it hurts.
I think that we hawk fans may be entitled to a few more alarms going off in the heads of our players in game four, because now they reach their first fork….when it takes what YOU do to make a difference.
Not ready to think that 15 of those Hawk forwards are gonna look to rely on teammates to push them to the next level...
I wouldn't be surprised if they do one forward substitution.... - wiz1901
Holy smokes, finally some sense.
Crawford's fine.

Crawford is adequate, at best. He's proven that he's incapable of stealing a game for the Hawks. They better start scoring at a much higher pace if they expect to win the Cup with him in the net. |
