Striet wants out. He is testing free agency. That was on TSN. They were not close to a deal. Maybe their new found success makes NYI start talking bigger numbers to him and he stays but before the trade deadline it was reported that he was on the way out. That is why it was such a big deal to land visnovsky to a contract even though he didn't even want to report to the team.

I would put money on Striet going somewhere. I don't know that it is Edmonton. I know that he was looking for 5 mil for 3 years was what tsn reported. I know with the options edmonton has to get an elite goalie, we have the ability to offer that and probably the desire. You never know with free agency though. We got Justin and he could have picked any team. Striet is not going to have his pick of any team.

Horton again I know nothing about why he is not signed to an extension. Maybe they will get one done. I am thinking Boston doesn't have the money for it but there are many teams that do. Not many playoff teams, but some. Depends on what he wants and maybe what offers he gets.

Point is that Edmonton is no longer a stay away from city. People see the young talent like shultz did and they want to play here. This is a hockey city but it is one that doesn't trash their players when they have a bad game like Vancouver or Toronto. We like our team win or lose. As the kids get better and show themselves like they are at the Worlds right now and the Olympics next year, there are going to be more and more people asking to sign here.

There was a time when you couldn't get anyone to sign with Chicago or the Pens. It wasn't that long ago. But we are fans not players so this shift won't be apparent to most until after it happens. Trust me though, Shultz was the start of something.
