Of course giving the guy the pro wrestling turnbuckle treatment in an age where the NHL has become quite sensitive about targetting the noggin' it's a bit surprising that there was no call.
The ref's let last night get out of hand by refusing to call anything in the third period. I thought the Isles got the better end of the officating through the first half of the game and the Pens in the second, but that third period was sort of discgraceful. How a ref can watch three guys hold a player in their box why play resumes in the offensive zone is unreal. - keaner17
Are you referring to the play where Matt Martin deliberately was not letting Cooke get to the Penguins bench? |

Forget about the fanbases, what about the Pens stars acting like petulant children at the end of the game? Letang, Malkin etc. all reverting to their rattled selves just like they did against the Flyers last year.
Keep it up Isles, very entertaining hockey! |

I mean...I went to a Jets-Saints game in NO 4 years ago, and after the Jets scored a TD someone yelled at me and the wife that we deserved 9-11. This, after Hurricane Katrina, of course.
I guess all Saints fans are bumholes then, huh?
Before I could even get anything out, the row behind us, all Saints fans (guys we had become friendly with...I don't go to opposing arenas to be a jerk), turned around and told this wiener to shut his mouth and act right.

Enjoy your last win of the year. - nbartley9
enjoy biting your nails to a nub over the next 2-3 games. The most talented team rarely goes all the way to the cup. As I said before this series began, if anything, the most talented team almost always tends to disappoint and fall to the team with the better system and transition. Your guys can't keep up with our transitional play and it's showing. If they don't find a way to counter it fast, you'll be at home yet again for round 2. |

Keep being cocky, Karma is a dangerous thing. 2-2 coming back to the Burgh, to be honest that's what every series should be; that's the way its designed. I never thought of your fan base as such a pathetic group, but wow are you ever. Keep cheering for injured players you classy bunch! Toss some stuff on the ice while your at it. - nbartley9

Along with Neal and another player keeping Martin from going anywhere...yep. Cooke and Neal where off the ice and their change was complete, Martin was still one of our 5 skaters on the ice. It was unquestinably interference. |

I don't know...I've gone to hockey games my entire life and never looked to the Coliseum, or really most sports venues, as shining examples of class and respect. It's a bunch of drunk sports fans. You're more likely to see a fight there than a gentleman throwing his overcoat on a puddle for a lady, you know? One of my earlier hockey memories is dad taking me to see and Islanders-Rangers game on St. Patrick's Day. Not hard to imagine how classy folks were that day! When they announced the stars of the game, the guy in front of us yelled, "The security guards!" |

First and foremost, good game you guys out hustled us from the drop of the puck.
Second, last night your fans just jumped into the classlessness of Flyers fans, cheering when a player takes a puck to the throat is 100% uncalled for and classless, that coupled with the throwing objects onto the ice; your fans are a joke grow up. Cheering for an injury I really thought you guys had more class than that, that is absolutely disgusting. I want you all to remember that moment when we end up winning this series.
I know not a single one of you care but its classless, enjoy your last win of the year. - nbartley9

There was a poster on the Pens blog yesterday asking for Letang to light Tavares up and hurt him.
Therefore, that entire Penguins fanbase is classless. Every single one of them is a terrible human being because they all want to do nothing but injure the other team's best player. They're all despicable.
See how that sounds? - jmatchett383
This is just funny bcs they are asking Letang too. |

I've seen some pretty classless stuff. Living in the Philly aree I remember Flyers fans cheering as Kasparitis lay on the ice motionless during a playoff game. I also remember Ranger fans jiggling their keys in the stands just days after Pelle Lindbergh died in an auto accident . Pittsburgh fans cheered as Hartnell lay injured on the ice. It happens everywhere. There's a certain age group of fans that if drunk, stupid and likely single, are quite prone to acting like fools at events where emotions run high like the playoffs.
Again, the refs let things get out of hand which typically gets everyone in an uproar. Take a look at European soccer games and how bad the crowds are there. Ref's have been murdered by mobs there. |

So wait...Martin PURPOSELY doesn't let Cooke get to the bench. So Cooke pushes him so that he can get to bench and Martin STILL doesn't get out of the way and falls into the door (which is what players use to get onto the bench) and it's completely the fault of Cooke and Neal (or was it Morrow)? I agree it was messed up, but it doesn't happen in Martin isn't being an ass. |

I was at the game last night at WOW what an atmostphere, I have never been to a sporting event like that! The crowd was loud and into the game the whole way and you have to think the Isles were feeding off of that.
I am wondering if anyone else saw how this started as I was distraced by Marrow slamming Casey's head into the ice but at the same time Martin some how ended up on the Pens bench and was being held there by a couple of pen players. Did anyone else see how that start and how isn't there a penalty called when a player is held on the other team's bench? I know the refs saw it because they were there breaking it up. Did anyone else see this? |

Didn't Pittsburgh fans also cheer when Kasparitis knocked Lindros out? |

Yup. If people are that obsessed with class, I don't know, polo is probably more their thing than hockey? It's a sport where people are still allowed to have fist fights and bloody each other up...you're probably not attracting the "golf clap" crowd to that. Just shake your head at the occasional absurdity and get over it. Jeez, LaFontaine played for the Rangers after their fans shook his ambulance years before! |

Are you arguing that Martin did not deliberatley get between Cooke and the bench door, stand still, look him dead in the eye, and smile? |

Cooke is challenging Martin on the ice and Martin puts his hands down at his side trying to draw a penalty. Cooke backs Martin into the door where Neal decides to join Cooke forcing Martin into the bench...for a good 7-10 seconds, Martin is unable to leave the bench. Both players were semi engaged but the moment Cooke and Neal are no longer part of the play while Martin still is, they need to be told to get out of his way..instead they were allowed to hold him there while the Pens pursued the puck in our zone. |

I certainly hate when fans cheer when someone gets hurt but I'll give you two responses to this:
A. It's not like Crosby went down and lay motionless....he was still skating with his hands by his chin..no one really could have had any idea that it was more than simply getting stung.
B. Spare me the 'now you guys are classless' crap as the EVERY stadium has had fans cheer an opposing player getting dinged including your own, so let's not pretend otherwise. - keaner17
Rags, Flyers, and now Isles that's it.
It is classless, that entire arena could clearly see him reach for his face, so you don't give me that crap. Its a classless move, by a classless fan base, and karma will come back and bite you guys.
I have been to 100s of games and never have I ever heard the fans at mellon or consol do anything but cheer when someone is seen to be ok after an injury. |
