First NHL game will be an elimination game in the playoffs? No way. Look at how shaky Lee was defensively...you're going to trust Strome? He'd probably end up playing like 5 minutes and everyone else would have to take up the slack.

Maybe they leave Joensuu and Ullstrom takes Nielsen's spot...otherwise it'll probably be Reasoner, and as much as I can't stand the guy, he's a safer choice defensively than Strome or Nelson.

Thomas is a head case and probably won't ever play in the NHL again no matter what team. Plus he is old and would only be a temporary solution even if he did play. Need a longer term goaltending solution. I'd look at Ryan Miller although I think I am in the minority there. Would only trade for him if I knew an extension would get banged out. I haven't seen enough of Bernier to see what all the hoopla is about with him.

If Neilsen can't go I would go with Brock Nelson...stick him between Moulson (or Bailey) and Okposo...he'll be ok...

3 or 4 year contract at $4 million per would probably get it done...I would think playing for the Islanders might not be a bad thing now...I'm sure players have seen how the Coliseum is during the playoffs. Plus Brooklyn is around the corner. If Snow is going to sign free agents, "the wind is at his back" this summer...

Now's the time. Assets are starting to get logjammed in the system and giving up a first round pick this year won't be like moving a top 5 pick. I've been very against trading our first pick, until this year. It's still high enough to be valuable but it's not like we're gonna move it and miss out on Jones or Drouin.
