Yes JT...
These are all the things we have been told about JT.
Duchane would be better
Hedman would be better
his game doesn't translate to the NHL
He cant skate
He will leave the island his first chanceThe Hart finalist in his 4th NHL season...

I thought JT would be better than Hedman, but that is the Canadian in me being nationalist and not liking Swedes. I wasn't sure who would be better JT or Duchane. It seemed to be a toss up except Duchane could skate better but JT seemed to be able to get to important ice better.

Disappointing loss. Disappointing that the Isles started standing around and watching in the second just like they did in Game 1. Give Pitt a small window, they'll bust right through it and kill you. Didn't help that Nabby pulled a MAF and let Murray's shot go in.
Hopefully, they can solve Vokoun in Game 6 and push it to a seventh game. Its going to be tough to do, but step one is to not let their foot off the gas pedal like they did in the second period last night. |

I BeLIeve we may be toast. Hate to say it but this game went almost exactly as i expected tonight. For whatever reason, Vokoun is the ultimate Islander killer. Six shutouts in 26 games and a sv pct near .940. Our defense is simply too thin to keep up with them when our goalie gives up four goals a game. Now we may quite possibly see Reasoner logging big minutes
I'll hope for the best but am expecting the worst. - keaner17
Can they put Nelson in the lineup now? He's a center, correct? I'd almost rather see Nelson get a game than dress Reasoner. |

garth needs to bring in a proven goalie in the offseason..i have no issues if nabby wants to be the backup... nilsson is a year away from challeneging so they need a 2 year plan... Also i am not enamored with Strait and Hickey they have both been exposed. They are fine when you are playing bottom feeders but they can not hang with elite forwards. - NYI78
The Isles need a long-term plan in net. I don't know if they believe in Poulin or Nilsson as long-term franchise goaltenders. If they do, then bring Nabby back again, but for one year and make sure he doesn't play 90% of the games and Poulin rots on the bench. If they don't, they should look to acquire a good, young goaltender to grow with this core. If I was Snow, I'd be calling LA about Bernier everyday after the season ends to see what it would take to get to get him. |

I think you go after Mike Smith or trade for Bernier... - kear20
For me its Bernier or bust. Its going to sting to trade what its going to take to get him, but its critical that they bring in a young goaltender that has a chance to be an elite goaltender to grow with this core. Bernier has done his apprenticeship. He's as ready as he'll ever be to be a starter. Most people around hockey are sold that he can be one of the better starters in the league with the right opportunity. |

Yes Really, because Carkner would know right up front to maintain his position and play the body early. Hickey got passed because of how weak he is physically. He turned into Crosby and bounced off him like a flea. While I don't think Carkner is anything better than a 5 or 6 dman, he's better suited to handle Crosby than Hickey. - keaner17
Carkner shouldn't have been taken out for Hickey. Made no sense. i think Cappy wanted Hickey in there for his offense with A-Mac not being available to man the point on the PP, but Hickey is either getting steam-rolled or skated around like a parking cone in his own end. |

Yeah, I was saying Nelson or Strome (but preferably Strome). It looks like Nielsen is going to try to make a go of it though... Frankly, I'd rather have Strome or Nelson over Aucoin right now. The guy has heart but he just isn't good enough to be in the lineup for games like this. |

I think his positioning is normally pretty good but the kid needs to work on his strength conditioning. He's simply not capable of rubbing Crosby or Malkin or anyone else off the puck. I think in time he'll be a very good dman for us, but this is too much for him right now. |

Both the Pens or Isles will have to depend on a 37 yr old goaltender to get them through the playoffs.
Pens may have been rattled because if they get past Isles they will face OTT who easily did in MTL.
Isles definitely can regroup and play great tomorrow but they still have to win back to back games. A big challenge.
If series proves anything, they need a young goalie of the future. |

I'm not getting cocky here because I thought after game 1 the Isle couldn't match the Penguins if they play to their ability. At 2-2 and even 2-1 it felt like we we're losing but a couple things I noticed...
Tavares stopped playing a bit in the 3rd just like in Game 1... He gets banged around a bit and wants nothing to do with taking a hit to play the puck. He wasn't the only one someone else ducked Murray's corner late. I'm guessing that score had a lot to do with it but you still hate to see it. If he's going to be a leader and MVP type he has to lead on the ice.
I thought TK and Vitale did even the speed up a bit. Both we're big in game 5 but I think TK is like Okposo he can give you a spark but just cant be consistent enough to be counted on.
In Game 6 the Isles better score early because Vokoun seems to be in everyone's head. From the players all the way to the message boards. I think he's not as good as Fleury and really slow moving in net but hey if you guys believe he's a #1 Goalie then that's all that matters. Fleury has been bad but when on it's not even close.
Good Luck |

If you are down 4-0 in the third period why risk injury for the next game? Pointless |

I agree that factored but game 1 it seemed a lot earlier... I thought the Isles scoring on Vokoun in the 3rd was more important than you I guess. Not pointless if you haven't scored on a guy who has your number. |

I was praying that the Pens wouldnt give up their usually late meaningless goal. I think it would have meant the world to the Isles to see a goal go in. Like that moment when Rocky cuts the Russian |

Maybe the Isles lose this year, get stronger next year and eliminate the Pens in start of a new LI dynasty? Rocky 2 |
