nah..not mostly replaceable...but he is replaceable (and youre taking that comment out of context) - LetsGoIsles
No.. im not.. there were alot in here saying he could be traded at the deadline because we already have his replacement... so losing him now shouldn't be a big deal right?

Ignore him too. He is also an idiot.
The Islanders look flat following the first period. They looked alright the first period I though it was going to be one of those tough 1-0 games. The Kennedy goal could have been survived but the Islanders deflated following the Murray debacle.
The Penguins finally played a complete game too. They didn't fall into that stupid prevent defense.
I'm still not comfortable with this series. I won't be until it's over and the smoke clears. |

I was suggesting that the Islanders sh1t the bed.
Their true colors, is in they suck. Can't win the big one. Choked. No good. Need to get better. Also rans. - Daman
This guy is a Flyers fan who basically has been trolling whichever team loses because he obviously has nothing better to do. |

i think your right on either end... they just need a legit starter that can bridge the next wave of isle players coming in - NYI78
Hey, if you are looking for a bridge goalie, I know a guy who is 28, has a Cup ring, and has 2 years left on a very affordable $5 mil per year contract.

oh jesus...where do i begin?!?!?!
1) cappy should have been fired the second the lineups were posted-- hickey and reasoner play game 1, they get SHELLED and pulled for game 2-4, isles for all intents and purposes outplay the pens and its reeally not that debatable. for some reason, which i STILL cant understand, cappy decides to fix what isnt broken and take ullstrom AND carkner, who like i said yesterday was doing a good job, out of the lineup for no apparent reason. anyone? can someone explain why cappy did this? and no, this isnt hindsight, i was thinking poop at the wall before the game started.
2) this was game 1 all over again...slow, timid and no one crashing the net. vokoun wasnt anything great- lets not play the MAF vs Vokoun game today, T.V. was clearly nervous in the first period, leaving juicy rebounds but no one was within 15 feet of him. un-(frank)ing-real!!!
3) poulin SHOULD play and this is why...1) worst case scenario, hell either be just as bad (or better) than nanbby, he cant possibly be worse 2) at this point, hard for me to believe the team trusts nabby 3) nabby is either gone or a backup after this season 4) its a good experience for poulin 5) pens have less info on poulin. 6) why not?!
4) moulson must be traded this offseason before other teams pick up on how one dimensional he is...he has been HANDS DOWN the WORST player on the ice in 5 stragith playoff games...id trade moulson and a 1st for top goalie or top pairing dman. |

i was and still am one of them...of course the trade deadline is slightly (read: NOT slightly) different than game 6 of the playoffs...ALSO trading a player is slightly (read: NOT slightly) different than losing a player to injury.... |

Didnt everyone say Nelson is ready to take over his spot?
Isnt Nielsen the most replaceable guy we have???
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I think going into next year I would have been good with that plan. Personally, due to Strome's talent, I would have considered him as an option. We don't have enough finishers on this club and he certainly can do that. I realize the argument that says this is not the stage for him to make his debut (I said that as well after game one) but I don't think we have much to lose at this point. I'd certainly rather have someone with offensive upside taking Nielsen's role rather than someone who seemingly can't play defensively OR offensively like Reasoner. |

Big difference between trading him at the deadline and giving his young replacement a month to settle into the position, and replacing him in game six of the Stanley Cup playoffs as a heavy underdog. |

If the player is trade-able, because we already have his replacement... what difference does it make if you inset his replacement after a trade or after an injury? IF we already have said replacement, this shouldn't be a big loss, no?

Strome is a horrendous replacement to Nielsen.. they arent even remotely the same type of player.

I'm not saying he would replace his role..just roster spot. Cizikas is the only center in our organization right now that's capable of filling Nielsen's role. The bigger problem is we become that much more thin at the center position. It's bad enough we have to endure Aucoin wasting space on our third line, now we'll be giving Reasoner 10-12 minutes a game too. That's why I say, I'd rather give Reasoners minutes to someone with the ability to actually contribute something rather than being an albatross in what will be a high paced crazy game. |

I don't know if I was the Islanders I would have started Poulin in game 5, I mean it was almost a guaranteed lost with Vokoun in the net. then Nabby comes back with some rest. I honestly feel this is the problem the guy is to old and has played to much. |
