well...that may be true or may not be true...
all WE do know is that when carkner/ullstrom have been in the team played at a MUCH higher level than in games 1 & 5 when they were out...
is it totally carkner and ullstrom, i dont know (although i highly doubt it) but WHY was the move made??? it was working!!! the lines & pairings were working!! |

I feel like you have to give Nabby his chance saturday. He helped us get here and he can helps us win Game 6.
As for Nielsen, he is a big loss. Only few of us understand that here.
But like someone mentioned earlier, someone can step in.
Throw Strome or Nelson in there and let them shine. Or Move Bailey to 2nd Line Center and then play Ullstrom.
If you have Carkner back in line up and Cappy doesnt complete Screw it up by Putting in Reasoner instead of what i mentioned above, Isles will win Saturday and force a Game 7. |

Yes Really, because Carkner would know right up front to maintain his position and play the body early. Hickey got passed because of how weak he is physically. He turned into Crosby and bounced off him like a flea. While I don't think Carkner is anything better than a 5 or 6 dman, he's better suited to handle Crosby than Hickey. - keaner17
while hickey got beat by crosby, you cant blame him for the goal. Nabby who was shell shocked from his soft goal was sitting back in his crease. had he stepped up to top of the circle, Crosby would have had no room to shoot. |

To me it's not about how good or bad individually Carkner is but rather, how do his best strength's help the present makeup of our defense. It's scary to think, but our most physical dman on last nights roster after Hamonic is Brian Strait....Our biggest dman is Haomic at 6'2" 215lbs. The Pens changed the flow of the game because we were unable to rub out their forwards and they controlled the boards. You can't pair two small dmen like Vis and Hickey up against someone like Malkin and Crosby and expect it's going to end well. I wish we had a better physical option than Carkner but we don't. |

You're damn right I can blame him for that goal. Just like on the other end of the ice, dmen can't get caught getting hypnotized by the puck. Vis was right next to Hickey, so Crosby had only one place to go which was to the outside of Hickey. He has to know this and step right into Crosby, at the very least it slows him up enough that Vis can then steal the puck. That's basic defensemen responsibilities...play the body. Instead he let Crosby make his move and waited to go after the body until after Crosby was already outside him. That was a hockey 101 ERROR.
Sure it would have been nice to see Nabby make the save, but in most cases a player who winds up on a breakaway should score every time. That's why they call it a one on 0. It was a 1 on 2 but Hickey misplayed it. |

no one is blaming him for the goal, we're blaming him far barely sneezing on the guy which LEAD to the goal...

Yep..as someone who played defenseman for over 30 years and coached, seeing that killed me . It was a rookie mistake that dmen are taught from the time they can first play contact. |

Ryan Miller was sub par this year. This would ge a horrible trade. We are giving up on Nino? Hasn't this year shown any of us that some prospects take time (Kyloe Okposo)... This summer there is a ton of quality UFA goaltenders. The worst of that bunch is Nabby. We are one of the few teams with tons of cap room to add if it makes sense. There is NO need to trade away picks, prospects or players to get a HUGE upgrade in net. - niteislander
Again, who are these "quality" UFAs you speak of?
Mike Smith? Plays great on defensively-minded teams, not so much on others.
Howard got locked up.
Niklas Backstrom has pretty bad playoff numbers, and will be coming off an injury.
Anyone else? You guys already have good ol' TimTom. Ray Emery? |

Eh, it's okay. Plenty of good one-liners though.
Note to self: Making love to blow-up doll is not as good as advertised
Also, the scene with all of the dead hookers is solid. |

Anders Neilsson is the future of this team as far as the starting goaltender position goes, as long as he got his medical condition under control.. the answer to your question is yes.
