Tough call there. Nabby kept us within reach during the first half of the season, but the team bailed him out during or April run. He was just as bad as MAF on this round but they weren't going to replace him no matter what.
I honestly think while he played well this year, there were very few times he was exceptional. He's very replaceable IMO - keaner17
You can have Bryzgalov. |

Thanks for scaring the crap out of us. Isles fought like hell and honestly outworked the Pens for 4 of 6 games. Hopefully this will be a wake up call and make the Pens stronger. Cya next year. |

Well what can I say. You lose to the best of the best and today's dynasty IMO. Now you guy will have expecince from this. I tell you something right now if you keep that young team together then if they make the playoffs again a few years from now they might upset a top seed other than Pittsburgh. But anyway congrats on the 2 wins. I'm so happy we got vokoun now it should be clear path to the cup I'm glad shero realise that maf just cost us 2 cups and also 2 games of this series. I wouldn't be shocked if we only lose one more game the rest of the way now that we have cabable goalie. - #71 & #87 R HOCKEY
Not sure I follow any of this. Fleury will be back in net game 1 next series. There is no clear or easy path to the cup. And, the isles will be back next year and be better. |

what would you think of the isles going after mike smith in the offseason?
i'd be pretty wary as he could be another "system goalie" similar to bryz but he wouldn't cost any assets for you guys. |

i would like them to see what Bernier would cost them and im not a big fan of his.. but for the right price they have to inquire about Luongo.

Good on the fans at the Coliseum, too...continuing the "Let's Go Islanders" chant after the OT goal, shouting MVP to Tavares, etc. Glad they recognized what the team did this season compared to where the expectations were set. |

Congratulations on playing your hearts out. This playoff series will go miles for the confidence of this young team. You have so many good young prospects, in the pipeline, that you can't help but get better. You still have Reinhardt, Strome and Neiderieder to come. You guys will soon be, what the Edmonton Oilers envisioned for themselves. Good luck.....next year. |

Ya know.. if not for their fans, I would be rooting for the Leafs to come out of the east, they have a nice young team alot like ours & they are fun to watch..... but that fan base makes it hard to root for them.

the cardinal sin of this game was when with 15 minutes left Cappy decided to revert to the 2012 Islanders and play prevent defense the rest of the game. It was from that point on that the Penguins suddenly found offense. If you play scared your fears come true. the tying goal was the perfect example four Islanders played soft allowed Malkin to take the puck from center ice into the Isles zone, around the back of the net and feed 4 players coming off the bench. You can't play passive hockey in the playoffs. |

Congrats to the Penguins...that said, very proud of this team this year. That took A LOT longer than I thought it would. Now they know what it feels like to be on the wrong end of the handshake, and I hope they hate it with every fiber of their collective being for the next month or so.
It's all part of the learning process, along with not sh*tting the bed against Buffalo, Carolina and Philly, when 3 wins would have allowed them to give Montreal a first round a$$ whipping, instead of losing to Pittsburgh.
....Now, FORWARD....
Two large, mobile, defensive defensemen, and a younger goalie are necessary additions to the 2013-14 NY Islanders. Start talking to bottom feeders like Phoenix and Nashville now- it's time to convince them that our draft picks and prospects will do their cr*p teams more good than their highly paid players ever will.
If a team like Phoenix doesn't have any money, and a team like Nashville has decided it is time to start over, it is time to see if we can get one of Yandle or Weber. I can see Nashville wanting to keep the goalie, to at least keep their fans interested while they retool that team, but Weber at this point is just costing them a lot of money, for no reason. Legwand is old, and Erat and Suter are gone. I'd be glad to pass them Nino and Reinhart if we can hook the big fish from their blue line.
Also, Niklas Backstrom would be fine in the net for the next two or three years, especially since a guy like Nilsson would likely look up to someone like him. Garth should also talk to Douglas Murray's agent on July 5th, as well. It's time for Garth's GM testicles to drop, and it's time for Charles to put his money to GOOD use for a change....starting with buying Ricky D. out of his personal services contract.
This bunch deserves to have a REAL shot next year, no matter who they're playing, and the people who have stuck with their season tickets through thick and thin deserve to have a year where those ducats are finally worth something when the holder has to sell them online, other than for the rag$ game. I knew this time would come sooner or later, and it is here. Here we go, Garth and Charles....time for you to make us as proud as your team did this spring... |
