It's such a joke that if you skate up and cross-check a guy in the ribs it all fine. But if he retaliates, they both go to the box. What is stop female genitalias like Marchand from being a little someone who is attracted to the opposite sex and going after top players after every whistle?

EDIT: I'm just as mad that the Leafs didn't stoop to the level of the no-class Bruins and exploit the "playoff guide to refereeing where anything goes".

- markmark

??? Leafs got away with as much as the bruins in this series, and in this game, its not the reason the Bruins won, I think we all know that.

good.. a lesson much needed.

like i said.. losing this way will probably benefit this young group moving forward than winning 4-1

now they know.. never ever take your foot off the gas...

Every championship team loses and usually in the first round the year or years before the cup so maybe this is exactly what they needed. Even the Oilers had to blow a monster lead against the kings. NOT saying this is the oilers, just saying gotta crawl before you walk.
- aminnes

With the changes to the conference and playoff format they may be forced back down to crawling from the walking position they obtained this year. Next year will tell if they just took advantage of a 48 game schedule or are really on the right track of becoming a true competitor.

I'm looking forward to the off season and seeing what kind of moves Nonis does. I think we need a Peter Zezel type player in the lineup to play a wing or one of the center positions to avoid what happened last night.

That was the Bruins strength when there center got kicked out the faceoff they had another one to take the draw.

The other thing too, is on a bench call such as this the linemen can make the call. Or let the ref know. 4 guys and no one saw it? yikes.
- aminnes

Seemed like they did adopt the "put the whistles away" system.

I'm sure if you were a bruins fan or watching the game without bias then you would of noticed some plays the Leafs got away with.

But the ones i noticed were the early penalty on kadri for the soft interference call when they had let some really heavy stuff go before it.

Chara manhandling and tossing (i think it was lupul) to the ice right in front of the ref

Rask's blocker to the face of Lupul right infront of the ref with no call

Lupul taking 6 cross checks in front of the net (2 from each of chara marchand and krejci i believe)

the elbow to jvrs face

and the boarding non call

that being said... leafs blew this one

Would love to have Clarkson on the team, but man he is going to get overpaid big time.

Clowe doesn't seem like the same guy from a couple years ago.

I forgot about Galchenyuk for you guys...

Could be but I would prefer to play with Lucic in the box for boarding instead of scoring

Im in no way blaming the refs for the loss. But you cant say the 3 things being mentioned (water bottle, boarding and broken nose elbow) weren't completely bush league garbage non calls.

I do agree here. He's a slippery little (frank) and kinda pulled the bottle up from behind the bench where no one could see it and tossed it out there.

Now from the speed it was ripping across the ice obviously it was thrown, but tough to make a call there if they actually didn't see it.

bullpoop none the less

- dragus84

I think they just figured it was knocked over as I am sure they aren't considering someone was stupid enough to throw it across the ice before a face off

I would love one of Horton or Clarkson on the first line. I know Horton isn't always a centre but with JVR and Lupes the Leafs would have some big power forwards out there.

FOLKS, THE LEAFS WINDOW IS OPENING! BE EXCITED! THINK OF FANS OF VAN THEY NOW HAVE TO WATCH A REBUILD, TORONTO CAN BE A GOOD TEAM FOR YEARS!

It looked like the ref's didn't see him throw it, they only noticed it once it was sliding across the ice, thinking it just fell off the bench. I don't think they knew it was purposely thrown

yeah, cause JVR is suuuuuch a clean player, ....
refs put their whistles away the whole game, lots of stuff was let go on both sides. cant believe the Leafs let the B's back in like that, great series though.

- 77emac77

Don't even try to compare, buddy. Marchant the rabbit puncher/ bottle tosser? Lucic hit? Kelly's elbow? Moron fans throwing shirts?

The one that bugs me that nobody is talking about is Tukka Rask's blocker punch to Lupul's face. You know what the rule book says about a blocker punch? It's a Match penalty. The referee was standing right there, looking over the net.

Agreed, the only thing here is this is totally non-discretionary. You throw crap on the ice its a penalty. It would be like if someone had shot the puck over the glass and they "put the whistles away" for it.

In all honesty.. the lesson the leafs learned last night is probably more valuable to this particular group then advancing

its the way they lost that has everyone riled up is all.

thing about Clarkson is that he's worth so, so much more to a team like Montreal or even Toronto. but regardless, he's a huge risk. will he produce? will he play with the same fire?

So far, it's working well with Prust.

Grabs -10
Kulemin -9

- senstroll

Grabs had a great series, as I predicted.
Kulemin continued be useless.
I dont want to see him back next year.
Even his D play has been bad.
