It's good to see Gus being used at such a high level on the World's stage. And so effectively. I think our best improvement on D for next year is going to come from players returning from injury and guys like Gus & Schenn continuing to develop.
Thanks for the writeup on Mark Alt. I've been very interested in his development since the Flyers fell out of the playoffs and I started looking over our assets. Alt is not a throw away prospect but I could never get a clear answer of what kind of Defensemen he was. |

I often go out there to visit my father and watch a game. The arena is fairly nice. They built a big area for bars, restaurants and an open air stage right next to one half of it. Last time I was there we sat on the patio sipping beers listening to a live band with some awesome food while we waited for the doors to open. LOTS of Flyers fans were out and about. I got very little grief for my jersey...
And with the hotel for players right there I got to see Shelley out and walking around in his suit (scratched for the night).
Plenty of parking. All in all a good experience. I hope they stay there! - FlyersGrace
i just returned from a scouting mission in northern Arizona, but i think we're better off in the Phx region. Personally, for selfish reasons I hope the Coyotes stay if we do in fact make the move. It just doesn't seem sustainable. The whole situation is a fiasco and I can't imagine the league (or the other 29 owners) will allow this to go on for much longer. They have a great turnout for playoff games, but it seems clear that it will never be a hockey town. |

It's odd, Youd think with all the Chicago retirees and snowbirds in the area they'd have bigger turnouts. From what my sister in law says though, it's a pain getting to the arena from downtown. |

I hope Phoenix move to Quebec and the league is forced to redo their terrible new unbalanced alignment. Even the NHL is not stupid enough to have Quebec in the Pacific division, or have 17 teams in the East and 13 in the West. |

Seriously? They have Montreal and Tampa in the same division. Nothing is too stupid for them. |

The NHL just rejected an offer of 277 million for the team because the offer stretched over 15 years. They want their money in 5. |

You have to have a car out there. No question. But from what I remember it's right off the highway. A bit outside town, the hardest parts are getting out of the area and onto the highway after a game and I would assume a night game might hit up against some of the commuter traffic headed out. It's a dream compared to getting to and parking at a Flyers game. |

the arena is in glendale. a bit of a schlep to get there from downtown phx or scottsdale. probably a mistake. |

i don't blame them. 15 years is an eternity in the sports world. maybe they're just riding it out until these arenas in quebec and seattle get finished. |

which is why, whenever possible, i park at the holiday inn and walk 10 minutes across the street. it's free, has direct access to packer avenue, and is pretty much cleared out by the time i get back to the car. |

I endorse this parking strategy and have used it frequently, but this strategy backfires when the Phillies (or another sports team) are playing and the Holiday Inn charges (exorbitantly, I might add) for parking.
The Jetro lot on the other side of the Linc is usually 5 bucks (10 if there is another event happening the same day....like a Phils game) and it's one of the following to get to the arena:
1.) A stroll underneath the 95 overpass.
2.) A stroll through the Linc parking lot. |

exactly. i won't park there in that situation, and have used the jetro lot. that works too. |

Sens take Game 1. Neil Cooke's Penguins...tastes like chicken.
JVR is on his way to NJ to golf with Bobby Ryan and talk about how much they wish they were Flyers. Homer laughs at them both, then wrecks his bike and decides no matter what, he's taking another center. |

I miss Matt Carle. Without him we just criticize everyone else on our Defense. It was better when we could just blame one guy. |

i like the climate of northern AZ better, but it feels too remote/small. Tucson is still a possibility but haven't visited yet. My wife wants to move to the desert, and I'm up for the move. However, Tucson doesn't seem to have an ice rink anywhere...scarce in Prescott and Flagstaff...so it's probably somewhere in the Phx area we'll go. the heat concerns me. i guess if we hate it, we can always come back. or go somewhere else. |
