yeah, right now morrow really isnt impressing me. at the end of the regular season i thought he was going to provide just what we needed. now, what was once a steep price is looking to be even worse. hopefully he pulls something out later on
Lineup changes as it pertains to the forward unit for game 2:
Kennedy slots up to the third line. Bennett on the 4th line. Morrow gets a night off. - Gunner Staal
Won't happen. I know Bylsma, Morrow won't miss a game. Another player that hasn't exactly been great has been Sutter. I know he's not going anywhere either, but getting Jussi back in the game isn't the worst idea.
yeah dude, other than 87 or 71, if i could pick anyone it would be JT. stamkos is an insane pure goal scorer, and id listen to the argument for him. but tavares just exudes stud. all the talent and intangibles in the world. as the team around him improves, everyone around the league will take notice. - stayinthefnnet
I don't know if I'd put Tavares ahead of Stamkos just yet.

id take jussi in there right now just to have another person capable of winning a draw. i know the sens have speed, but i dont think hed look as out of place as against the isles. however, totally agree. morrow wont sit.
They might put up Stafford like numbers in Buffalo. Ennis had a 30 pt year playing with 3rd and 4th line forwards or rookies all season. I would take Hodgson or Ennis over either of them now, yesterday or tomorrow. Kunitz is a good player, so is Dupuis, but they don't produce like that outside of Pitt. Kunitz had 1 good year before coming there, Dupuis was a throw in - sbroads24
Neither Dupuis or Kunitz are complete mysteries like Stafford. He is an enigma.
Your comments further illustrate why your franchise is what it is. Dupes would have a long list of suitors as a pending free agent if he was looking to leave. GMs know his value. It's higher than Ennis for sure. What difference is it that Kunitz only had one good year and Dupes was a throw in?
Do you know what Dupuis' numbers are without Crosby? Guess what - he produced when he was out.

I don't. Turris isn't a tire fire in his own end and his offensive numbers are in Hodgsons neighborhood. - Gunner Staal
Hodgson was horrific defensively, but he has elite hands and vision. If he could skate better he would be a superstar. Defense can be improved, his talent level can't be coached. Turris is decent but I would bet Ottawa would rather have Hodgson.

The only reason you keep Morrow in there, if you do, is the physical aspect of Ottawa - another banger. That said, he hasn't done much in the play-offs.

I can't control what Bylsma does but that is what I think I would do.

His hands are decent and he can distribute the puck if he has time and space. Problem is that he can't create time and space for himself in tight areas, which is an issue when playing the center position.

its slightly concerning that what cost our premier d prospect to acquire merits a sit down in the playoffs though, considering these gritty games are supposed to be his forte

I disagree. The Pens are my 2nd team so I have watched probably 50 games the last 2 years and Dupuis and Kunitz are good players. Ennis is far more talented than either one of them but has to do it all on his own in Buffalo. Is he a star player? No, but he would absolutely thrive playing in Pittsburgh where he doesn't have to create space.

Not for nothing but Dupuis has put up some really good numbers without Crosby or Malkin and no PP time.
When Crosby was out long term Dupuis did not play with Malkin.

What's strange is Morrow had a few great games down the stretch, but has really disappeared in the post season. Actually has been a liability at times.

More than decent. IMO he doesn't shoot enough. He needs to be more shoot first.

Dupuis can finish. He's a good player. Not an ideal top 6 IMO on teams that don't have Crosby but one of the best fringe 2nd 3rd liners out there. Ennis is sort of like Kunitz, you would be suprised at the grit he has and the amount of goals scored in front of the net for a smaller guy

yeah exactly. he really impressed me at the end. i thought he was just what was needed. now he just looks incredibly slow. a goal would be great, but id settle for just being able to roll him out on a line with cook and hope to just grind out the other team's offensive guys via a good forecheck

Ennis is nothing like Kunitz. Might be polar opposites.
I watch the Sabres on a regular basis. Ennis looks a lot like a North American Afinogenov, not Kunitz.

Great game tonight by the Pens. I liked the effort level and the hitting. Great start and a solid finish..they lost a bit of steam in the second, but they really cut the turnovers down (I can only recall one egregious one made by Tanger).
The only real criticism I have is I still think the F's need to come back more to support the breakouts...I see too many guys sitting stationary at the far blueline and in the neutral zone.
All in all, definitely trending in the right direction.

Not skill wise no. Im talking grit for a smaller guy. Ennis gets his nose dirty like Kunitz does. You really don't give Ennis enough credit. - sbroads24
I'm not a welfare office for compliments on mediocre players. Sabres were where they were in the standings because of players like Hodgson and Ennis. Miller propped them up from an even a worse fate.

would you rather try to continue to build the team around guys like miller, vanek, and stafford for a few more years? or would you rather try to move those guys and try to start the rebuild? ive never minded the sabres, and theyve had some decent players in the past few years, but i worry they could pull a calgary flames type deal and wait too long to realize it.
