Finally someone who agrees with me Stamkos will sign a contract with Toronto after his contract expires in tampa which is why he signed a short contract and not lifetime contract - Mapleleafs_91
Imagine if each organization had the rights to the players who favored their team when they were younger. |

Here's something to get the ball moving, if we had Horton would we be better than the Boston Bruins? |

Find a taker for Grabovski and Liles if not then one needs to be bought out along with Komisarek.
If Horton or Clarkson or ideally both could be signed then trade Kulemin + whatever else to bring in a legit #2 D......
Oh a re-sign Bozak.. if the agent demands >4 per season then he can test the market and discover no one else will pay that.. - Mr_Smokey
I really think a team would want either one. Both are still half decent, salary is high but a team that could take salary would probably want them, a team that cant "sign" players or attract players. Komi will be bought out no doubt.
If clarkson and horton resign(i have a feeling horton will resign, boston likes keeping their players that won the cup), then i can see Ryan Clowe as another option, a guy that will fight, hit, and provide the grit needed. Short term deal though for sure probably 2 years max i would give
Bozak is a big "?" |

No horton for boston means less goals and assists for that first line |

Ontario born players (very good ones) very rarely or never sign with the Leafs, whereas American players like to go back to their home towns (Parise and Suter) unless you draft them, they won't come back home, wimps. |

We are in a position where we need to resign Bozak, even for faceoffs alone. Why would we use a buy out on Komi when we have him playing in the minors not taking up any space. I think he only has one year left too. |

I'm not certain, but I think under new CBA even if a guy is burried in the minors his cap hit still counts?

K if i am a player in the NHL, and i am from toronto, or ontario area, grew up watching the leafs, parents watched the leafs, have family in ontario, im pretty sure my family would pressure me to sign and come home, so they can come watch me play hockey. Its going to be same scenario for stamkos once his short termed contract expires. At least we have a bright future ahead |

Brodeur and Lecavalier have always made it clear that Montreal is the last place they'd ever want to play

Seems that way doesn't it? I don't get it though, I actually think that a lot of pro's aren't huge hockey fans if that makes any sense, like they love the game they just don't seem to follow the NHL. Even guys I know who went pretty far don't really follow the NHL as much as you might think they would. |

Ya its nice to dream up this idea "who woudln't want to play for their home town"
the GTA has probably produced more quality hockey players than anywhere else. and I can't think of anyone who chose to come to toronto as a UFA because they were from here |

Doesn't make sense to trade our best faceoff man in a series where we lost because of faceoffs.
Kulemin makes what he should, and does what he should why trade him?
Don't mind the idea if we buy out grabo but those guys are old and probably aren't the answer. - MapleLeafsFTW
Toronto was leading 4-1 in a game 7 which they were winning around 20% of the faceoffs.
Wasn't the refs and wasn't the faceoffs |

We need one more player upfront, either an elite winger or centerman, preferably a centerman, its better to have more depth up the middle (ex: boston).
We definitely need some more help on defense, need some changeups.

Don't sell you're team short they're are quite a few pro's who love the Habs too. Leafs and Habs would be stocked to the teeth. I pretty much brought up the idea because we could have a line of Moulson-JT-Stamkos and that would be scary. - MapleLeafsFTW
I hear you. But it doesn't work that way. If it did, there would be more of what you are referring to. |
