Toronto was leading 4-1 in a game 7 which they were winning around 20% of the faceoffs.

Wasn't the refs and wasn't the faceoffs

- senstroll

I didn't say it was the refs, it was faceoffs though. If we could have had possession half of the time in the last 10 mins from faceoffs there is no way they make that come back. That being said I was talking about the whole series in general, if we won half of the draws we would have destroyed the Bruins in my opinion, probably wouldn't have even went to 7 games.

I really think a team would want either one. Both are still half decent, salary is high but a team that could take salary would probably want them, a team that cant "sign" players or attract players. Komi will be bought out no doubt.

If clarkson and horton resign(i have a feeling horton will resign, boston likes keeping their players that won the cup), then i can see Ryan Clowe as another option, a guy that will fight, hit, and provide the grit needed. Short term deal though for sure probably 2 years max i would give

Bozak is a big "?"

As an aging UFA looking at his last big contract, I'm sure he'll jump all over that.

We need one more player upfront, either an elite winger or centerman, preferably a centerman, its better to have more depth up the middle (ex: boston).

We definitely need some more help on defense, need some changeups.

- Mapleleafs_91

I don't think we need it, but I agree we could use Horton or Clarkson if we could get them. I still think we need to work on our faceoffs all day and everyday.

It's exciting that there isn't many bad players on the Leafs who you just want to rip their heads off half the time like in the past. Maybe Kostka, sometimes O'byrne and Phaneuf seems to get it bad, though I like him overall.

While I agree with most of what you are saying, I don't see the big hard one for Bozak in the face off circle.

He was 52.6 percent on the year. Mclement was 51.6. He wins one more out of a hundred than Mclement and the guy is irreplaceable because he wins faceoffs and doesn't do much else?

I hear you. But it doesn't work that way. If it did, there would be more of what you are referring to.

I think the closest thing to it was when Montreal had dibs on French players in the draft for a few years, but even that was pretty inconsequential.

As for all this "Fav team = sign there" there already is an example of this, it's called the NYR's and it happens every UFA season.

That moment, if we played bozak on the 2nd/3rd line like he was supposed to be and got a legit number one centerman, we would not have this money problem with him now

I don't love Bozak in the draws as much as we don't have a lot of options unless we can replace him. He's our best faceoff man now so I don't think we can afford to lose him. Even though McClement is decent too, we still need as many good faceoff centers as possible.

*sigh*

They never had dibs on French players in the draft (ask Dozzer). And the rule you are referring to was as consequential as you believe Rejean Houle and Marc Tardif were to their success.

Thats what burke said about grabo, look at him now. We should of traded grabo when we had the chance, not sign him to a ridiculous contract

Ya, I don't think we're too far off in opinions here. I agree he was our best this season, but I think that's more of a testament to our general problems in the face off circle period.
I think it will be a major point of focus for this coming year, but I just think Bozak is very easily replaced.

Yeah they had dibs before there was a draft.
