Kadri isn't good on the wing, which is why people think it took him so long to break into the league because they moved him to the wing at first. Truth be told the ideal prototypical number 1 center isn't a common theme throughout the NHL. I'd say we have 3 centers who are all good centers, to say any is number one is pretty arbitrary. I'd say Kadri has the potential to be the most offensively gifted, Bozak is good two ways and Grabo is somewhere in between.
- MapleLeafsFTW

I say we currently have 3 2nd line centres

Oh I know that I wasn't arguing that fact I was saying it for every team not just the habs. I know it stretched only 50 but I remember for toronto Montreal they typically stayed inside their own province, that was there choice.
- Yeti1181

no, what happened is the leafs and habs would finance the minor league team the player played for.. and sign guys to play minor league hockey. built into the contract was that the leafs/habs would retain the players signing rights at the pro level

it never had anything to do with territory.

100% incorrect: the bolded

nothing stopped the bruins from signing orr for example.. and the leafs, wings, and habs all tried.

if the leafs had territorial rights.. then boston wouldnt of been able to sign orr.

its one of the biggest myths of hockey lore

Very true about the centers in that no one is a stand out number 1 center.

I think as mentioned Bozaks home is in a 2nd/3rd line center role.

I commend Grabo's effort in the playoffs, but sooner or later effort isn't good enough. This guy needs to gain his confidence in a hurry, because I'm about at the point where I'm ready to wash my hands with him. He doesn't put the puck in the back of the net and he doesn't seem to be able to make a play when he comes over the blue line.

I know all the short season and defensive role talk that has gone on, but he's another one I wouldn't lose any sleep if we lost. Especially after seeing that previous line up posted without him in the mix (granted there was a blank spot on the first line C spot).

Nothing stopped them yes Toronto didn't want to sign him though when he was that young. If Toronto had want to sign him they could have as well and if my memor serves me correct one of te leafs scouts told Ballard or smyth to sign him and they didn't want too at such a young age(can't remember the reason it was stupid though)

Might as well trade bozak in a deal for a number one centerman like thorton and sign/trade for another winger
- Mapleleafs_91

It would be good if we could but it's not such an easy thing, I would like to see it happen though. I still think we should make a play for statsny.

Yet another kick in the groin from this series: the fact that had Grabovski just scored one goal in 3 of our 4 losses, we could have won.

He worked his butt off, but so did Tie Domi and Alyn McCauley. Grabo gets paid for production, not effort.

Ya always easier said than done.

I'll be the first to admit I was interested in the O'reilly sweepstakes. Not at all costs, but definitely wanted to kick some tires there. And kinda glad we didn't now

Also see, Connolly, Tim

It sucks because we gave him such a bad contract. He should never have made more than 4.5.

What do you think it would take to get Crosby out of Pitt.

Maybe a nice Liles, Grabo, and a 2nd package?
